Job Description:

We are seeking a Functional Check Flight Pilot for our Air Force Global Strike Contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for technical, professional and administrative duties to ensure the successful execution of the Flight Operation/Ground Operations Plan, contract compliance and reporting as defined in Air Force Instruction 10-220/DCMA 8210.1C. Job Requirements:
  • Responsible for performance of UH-1N and MH-139 flight operations functions as outlined in the Government contract and Contractor Flight Operations Procedures. Perform UH-1N and MH-139 Functional Check Flights (FCFs) in accordance with T.O. 1H-1(U)N-6CF-1, T.O. 1H-1(U)N-6CL-1 and MH-139 specific TOs.
  • Perform Operational Check Flight (OCFs), Engine ground runs, Ferry flights, Aircraft recoveries, and Cock standby, alert and OBM aircraft in accordance with T.O. 1H-1(U)N-6CF-1, T.O. 1H-1(U)N-6CL-1 and MH-139 specific TOs.
  • Support repositioning of aircraft during contingencies, to/from depot maintenance activities, aircraft modification facilities, and provide ground and flight analysis.
  • Perform Post modification flight test activities and determine airworthiness of the aircraft prior to the delivery of aircraft to or from home base or other operational bases.
  • Maintain flight evaluations IAW AFM 11-2UH-1N Vol 2 and/or IAW MH-139 specific AFMAN.
  • Maintain Basic Aircraft Qualification (BAQ) IAW AFMAN 11-2UH-1N Vol 1.and/or MH-139 specific AFMAN.
  • Maintain currency in Night Vision Goggle sorties and currency in Unprepared Site Landing (day and night), IAW AFMAN 11-2UH-1N Vol 1.and/or MH-139 specific AFMAN.
  • Be instructors, and be available to instruct Active Duty, Reserve, or Air National Guard aircrew.
  • Perform specific maneuvers during daylight visual conditions.
  • Evaluate all aircraft systems to include infrared sensors, enhanced navigation system (ENS), aircraft hold & hover stabilization system (AHHS), hoists, and other unique systems. Night flights may be conducted under nighttime visual flight rules (VFR) and visual meteorological conditions (VMC) to evaluate cockpit night vision imaging systems (NVIS) lighting. Ferry flights under day or night instrument flight rules (IFR) are authorized.
  • Participates in government and company audits to verify compliance and develop solutions for identified shortfalls or corrective action requests to prevent recurrence.
  • Must be able to effectively interface with Government Representatives. Must be customer oriented.
  • Adhere to and enforce all Company and Government regulations to ensure personnel safety and the security and preservation of Government and Company-owned equipment.
  • Responsible for adherence to and enforcement of the FOD Prevention Program and Tool Control Program.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the work center.
  • Ensure that work is properly documented in government and company electronic and/or manual Information Systems
  • Assist in ensuring the safety, security, inventory and preservation of Government owned and Company owned equipment.
  • Perform all other position related duties as well as other projects and initiatives as assigned.
  • Maintains the highest ethical, personal and professional standards

Primary Qualifications

  • Minimum FCF crewmember qualification requirements are in accordance with AFI 10-220. All FCF pilots must have a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) commercial pilot certificate or airline transport pilot (ATP) certificate with rotorcraft and instrument ratings.
  • Prior to performing contract operations pilots must satisfactorily complete an FCF proficiency check according to the operating location’s annex. All pilots must maintain currencies in accordance with applicable Air Force Instructions.
  • Be qualified on the UH-1N and MH-139 (when assigned) (dual qualification is allowed) as indicated by successful completion of formal USAF aircrew qualification training course and as required by AFI 10-220. The Squadron Commander or designated representative must review qualifications of contractor personnel for compliance with AFI 10-220/DCMA 8210.1C.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
  • Must meet any other qualification standards imposed by the government contract not covered by this agreement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint to generate, compile, analyze and evaluate facts and data using statistical and research methodologies
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to develop professional relationships with management, peers, maintainers, vendors, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Must be able to work weekends, other shifts, and unpaid overtime as required.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and Company proprietary data.
  • Must adhere to Company policies/procedures and management instruction.
  • Travel will be required.

Physical Requirements

  • Must have and maintain FAA Class II flight physical and aviation physiology training.
  • Exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
  • CLIMBING - Ascending or descending using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized (onto or off of helicopter cabin roof as part of preflight/postflight.)
  • BALANCING - Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces; or maintaining body equilibrium when performing feats of agility (while on top of helicopter cabin roof as part of preflight/postflight.)
  • STOOPING - Bending body downward and forward. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires full use of the lower extremities and back muscles (entering and exiting helicopter cockpit.)
  • CROUCHING - Bending body downward and forward by bending legs and spine (in order to inspect the underside of the helicopter and tailboom as part of preflight or postflight inspection.)
  • HANDLING - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand (required for numerous tasks.)
  • DIGITAL DEXTERITY - Picking, pinching, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling (required for numerous tasks.)
  • EXPOSURE TO WEATHER - Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by the weather (while conducting exterior ramp operations such as preflight, post flight, and aircraft fueling.)
  • NOISE - Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds or a pitch or level sufficient to cause marked distraction or possible hearing loss (while conducting exterior ramp operations such as preflight, post flight, and aircraft fueling.)
