About us:
We have some exciting internship opportunities within the AIRBUS Wing Structural Analysis team to work on Static Stress, Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) and FEM analysis in Broughton with the Plant Engineering Team (PET) & A400M team. We are located alongside the wing assembly lines manufacturing Single Aisle, Long Range and A350 wings, and so have the fantastic opportunity to see the physical product every day.

We are a team of Structural Engineers who are all passionate about finding technical solutions to support AIRBUS product’s wings. We have a vast wealth of knowledge and experience within our engineers who can help you grow technically and personally during your year-long internship.
This internship gives you the opportunity to work on most of the AIRBUS’ wings from major developments on well-established aircraft such as the A320 and A350, to new product developments on the wing of the future.
In line with the AIRBUS’ digitalisation targets there are also various opportunities to apply and further develop your programming and optimisation skills.
What you will be doing:
You will interact with different teams and be mentored by a wide range of engineers with various backgrounds while working on meaningful projects. The main tasks and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Solving structural analysis problems within Static Stress, F&DT and FEM, through the use of appropriate AIRBUS methods, processes and tools - this will include extracting information from previous analysis and/or carrying out FEM analysis and performing calculations to justify structural performance;
Creating appropriate documentation;
Communicating your analysis to mentors and/or more senior engineers;
You will be involved in the dynamic process of aircraft wing modifications, which will require alignment and integration between different teams;
You will participate in investigations into manufacturing optimisation challenges, proposing and implementing enhancements to meet future build rates;
Next to your everyday work, you will also be asked to outline a set of personal development goals, which can include anything from learning Java or Python to networking and discovering how the business works.

Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
Studying towards a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent;
Some knowledge of overall aircraft structural design principles and techniques;
Good problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude;
Not afraid to propose new ideas to solve problems;
Programming and optimisation skills would be beneficial;
Any language (other than English) and experience of a wide range of cultures is beneficial.
