Temp Driver
Job Description:

Under direct supervision of the Working Supervisor or Field Maintenance Supervisor, this position involves operating trucks, snowplows and other equipment as required to maintain the airport in an operational condition.  Working assigned shifts, the Driver is required to be available for overtime during the snow season to operate snow removal equipment.

At the ACAA we all have a temporary role in the ambitious transformation of becoming a smarter airport that will enhance the passenger experience and deliver on our mission of being a global aviation leader. Working assigned shifts, the Driver is required to be available for overtime during the winter season.

Here is how the Temp Driver role will help:  

  • Develop or participate in the job safety analysis procedures.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment such as single axle tandem and tri axle dump trucks, 28-foot snow removal equipment, 20 passenger bus, 26 foot brush hog grass cutter, street sweepers, runway painting equipment, sewer cleaning equipment, deicer trucks with 50 foot & 75 foot booms, fuel truck and assorted trailers including 40 foot low boy trailer;
  • Check oil, hydraulic fluid, and water levels.
  • Apply grease to vehicle and equipment lubrication points.
  • Haul equipment to job sites.
  • Effectively communicates on radio.
  • Travel on the A.O.A. using tower communications radio.
  • Work safely and abide by all ACAA safety guidelines.
  • Maintain good working relations with management and co-workers, representing the ACAA in a professional manner at all times.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned or required.


The minimum requirements needed to qualify for this role are:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience as a driver in a maintenance environment.
  • Must provide his/her own personal protective footwear Composite toe safety shoes)
  • Must possess a current, valid Pennsylvania Class "A" or “B” Commercial Drivers License (C.D.L.).


The qualified candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.  

  • Knowledge of F.A.A. ground control and radio procedures.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and techniques of safety precautions and injury prevention programs.
  • Ability to work under adverse climatic conditions for extended hours.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member for projects.
  • Ability to learn airfield and safe driving procedures for independent movement on the airfield.
  • Serve the public and fellow employees with honesty and integrity in full accord with the letter and spirit of the Authority&39;s Ethics Policy.
  • Exhibit behavior reflective of the Authority’s Values “SOARING.”.
  • Ability to work all shifts scheduled or assigned in a 24/7 operation.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.  Employee may be assigned to additional shifts, which encompass a twenty-four-hour day, seven day per week operation, including holidays.  Subject to remain on duty beyond assigned working hours to provide assistance during emergency situations, peak periods or extenuating circumstances.
