Our Joint Staff J7 Team, located in Suffolk, VA, has an opportunity for a Modeling & Simulation (M&S) Test Team analyst with a focus on testing, to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
As a Modeling and Simulations Test team member you will support a unique Joint Staff capability which includes the installation, integration, testing, evaluation, and synchronization of simulations and gaming tools used in future immersive training capabilities for Joint Training Exercises and Experiments. As member of the Joint Staff J7 team you will provide the test plans and cases for the military models and simulations (M&S) used in computer-assisted joint and combined exercises and rehearsals.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities of the M&S Test team will include, but not be limited to:
- Coordinate with simulation developers to perform simulation/model software upgrades and system performance troubleshooting/analysis as required. Provides technical support to users. Monitors system effectiveness in satisfying user’s needs
- Provide support to the mission planning and mission execution processes which may include modeling the strategic deployment process down to individual entity level moves reflecting mobilization, deployment and Reception, Staging, Onward movement and Integration
- Assisting in the design of simulations supported training events, data base design, data base build and the stimulation of logistics, sustainment, transportation and medical C4I processes. These missions require an understanding of operational force structure, simulation training design, exercise objectives and being able to understand an operational plan and implications of staff planning
- Develop internal technical operating processes and manage technical operations for some of the following simulations utilized at JSJ7 Suffolk including but not limited to: the Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS), Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS), Joint Deployment Logistics Model (JDLM) standalone, JDLM in a DESS federated environment, Air Force Synthetic Environment for Reconnaissance and Surveillance/Multiple Unified Simulation Environment (AFSERS/MUSE), JCATS Low Overhead Driver (JLOD), Low Overhead Training System (LOTS), or other simulations/federations as required
Basic Qualifications:
- Possess a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering or related technical subject and a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in military and/or defense industry relevant to the description above. Note: Additional experience may be considered in lieu of the education requirements. Combined total of a minimum of 9 years between education and relevant experience
- Strong computer and networking skills background
- Experience with REDHAT/LINUX operating system (Command line experience in addition to GUI experience preferred)
- Experience with simulation operations and management
- Knowledgeable in JIRA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good understanding of Test plans and how test cases are nested into the test plan
- Ability to write a test plan and test cases
- Good understanding of how the database is built, and how data may affect the results
- Basic understanding of mission threads and how they relate to joint exercises
- Must possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport
- Must be willing and able to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25 of the time)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating JTLS or JLVC simulations (JCATS, JLOD, MUSE/AFSERS, AWSIM, LOTS)
- Knowledge in Military logistics (deployment, movement, and sustainment operations)
- Knowledge of military systems; equipment; and tactics; techniques; and procedures (TTP)
- Experience in programming languages: C++, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Java, MySQL, or other current programming languages
- Familiar with C2 systems
- Familiar with the Joint Exercise Life Cycle
- ComTIA Security + (CE) certification
Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
