Job Description
The Patient Account Representative will serve as part of the Patient Financial Services department and be responsible for handling of patient accounts to resolution. The Patient Account Representative will ensure that accurate, ethical, and compliant billing practices are maintained and comply with Survival Flights written code of conduct as well as billing practices, policies, procedures, state laws and all Federal Health Care program requirements.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Air Ambulance industry and billing requirements
- At least 3 years of AR or collections experience
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, AHCCCS, Managed Care, Private Insurance, and Auto Insurance process and requirements
- Knowledge of ICD-10 diagnosis coding
- Proven problem-solving skills and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize workflow for efficient time management and production
- Excellent customer service and telephone etiquette skills
- Knowledge of Excel and Word
- Detail oriented with strong analytical skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to navigate specific billing software to effectively handle accounts
Preferred:
- Ambulance billing experience
- Bilingual
Job Responsibilities:
- Work denials or no pays correctly and promptly including submitting reconsiderations and appeals
- Follow up on medical and auto insurance claims not paid timely
- Follow up with Attorneys on case settlement including negotiations for settlement reductions
- Adhere to Workers Compensation guidelines according to state regulations
- Re-submission of claims that are not on file manually through the system used by payer
- Collection of unpaid balances including but not limited to patient, client, and insurance
- Managing the process for the No Surprise Billing Act including following the Open Negotiations and IDR regulations for out of network claims
