Job Description:

The Packing Technician provides service and repair of mechanical, electronic and other equipment requiring technical knowledge and expertise, effective diagnostic and repair techniques and procedures related to a wide variety of equipment. The position requires an individual to be detail oriented and flexible. The individual will be responsible for packing units and assisting in other departments.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

1.tResponsible for packing lifesaving equipment to safety, quality and time requirements
2.tFollow all safety policies, including the safe handling of pressurizes gas cylinders
3.tUtilize equipment such as lift trucks, hydraulic presses, ratcheting banding straps, hammers etc in a safe an effective manner
4.tMust be proficient with use of tape measure and be able to lift at least 75-100 lbs.
5.tPerform work as instructed in written documentation, i.e. work instructions, Component Maintenance Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, ect.
6.tDetermine and locate the applicable maintenance documentation, which could be in print or digital form, required for a specific job
7.tRigs a unit (attaches various parts to unit, such as aspirator (intake valves), cylinder, lines/cords, anchor, locator lights and battery, etc.
8.tTies various knots in specific manner
9.tSoapstone (dusts) specific areas of unit so that no sticking occurs
10.tDeflates unit to prepare it for folding
11.tFollow standard procedure for folding the unit – utilizing a diagram and written instructions
12.tDuring folding process must be able to push, pull, tug (using hands and feet), bend, kneel, stoop, etc. to get unit in its case
13.tCase is then laced up
14.tDocument all work performed in work routers/travelers
15.tDocument hours applied to job
16.tMaintain tool control
17.tApply “clean as you go” / 5s practices.
Job Requirements:

a) Knowledge and Skills
•\tHas the ability to use common hand tools and precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, depth gauges, flow meters, pressure gauges.
•\tIs able to read and interpret component maintenance manuals in order to diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions.
•\tHas a good understanding of corrosion control methods and remedies.
•\tHas basic computer skills, i.e., Word & Excel

c) Education and/or Experience

Example: A two-year degree in technical discipline and/or comparable work experience such as an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certification and/or Military or Civil aircraft maintenance experience.

d) Mathematical Skills
•\tAbility to apply basic mathematics to convert metric and/or standard rates of flow, torque, load and distance measurements.

e) Communication Skills
•\tMust be able to read, write and understand English fluently.

f) Physical Demands
•\tThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

•\tWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
