We are seeking a motivated and hands-on Lab Technician to join our Materials and Process (M&P) team. This role supports manufacturing and development programs by executing test procedures, maintaining lab equipment, and assisting with materials investigations. Ideal candidates have experience in specimen preparation, mechanical testing, composites, and lab tools.
What You’ll Do
• Operate and maintain lab equipment (wet saws, grinders, microscopes, test frames).
• Prepare specimens and conduct tests per procedures and standards (ASTM, ISO, AMS).
• Perform bonding and composite panel preparation for small-scale testing.
• Record results, document procedures, and write reports as needed.
• Maintain lab cleanliness, equipment, and supply inventory.
• Conduct mechanical testing on CFRP, adhesives, metals, and bonded joints.
• Follow safety protocols and assist with other lab duties as assigned.
What You Need:
• High school diploma, GED, or 5+ years in a materials lab or related field.
• Machining skills (belt sander, wet saw, drill press, grinder, milling machine).
• Ability to follow specifications, test plans, and standards (ASTM, ISO).
• Experience in fast-paced lab environments and cross-functional teams.
• Experience with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and Jira.
• Knowledge of bonding techniques and composite layups.
• Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
Bonus Qualifications:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
• Knowledge of CFRP and polymer properties.
• Experience with analytical equipment (DSC, DMA, rheometers).
• Familiarity with CAD and 3D printing for fixture fabrication.
• Prior experience in AS9100 and/or FAA-certified lab environments.
• Trained in 5S workplace organization standards
