About the Role...
This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Production for Airbus Helicopters in Spain (AHE). The role includes leading the end to end process for helicopters manufacturing, starting from aerostructures assembly, and including the AH Center of Specialization for the Rear Fuselage MCA across all AH programmes, the NH90 and upcoming H145M flight line and the upcoming MKIII FAL. All of this, in a time of ramp-up as well as transition to the reception of new programmes (MKIII, X…)
The Head of Production will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient (cost, time) and high-quality-safety production, for both the short term milestones related to the daily deliveries, as well as for the mid and long term industrial preparation and transition towards the new and upcoming programmes.
We seek for a professional with profound experience in the Airbus Operations domain, in Lean / AOS deployment, in H&S requirements and who streaks for excellence. This position requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
How will you contribute to the team…
Lead and oversee the entire assembly, testing and flight process, ensuring compliance with industry and quality standards, health & safety protocols, Airbus values and project specifications.
Hierarchically manage a growing team of skilled foremen, assembly and test technicians to achieve optimal efficiency and high-quality output (equivalent to 150 today).
Manage the ramp up across all the AH programmes, while ensuring the right level of competences to counter balance unexpected rate modifications.
Smart and agile reactivity towards delays from the internal/external suppliers to minimize impacts on performance and the teams.
Ensure the team is trained to the latest requirements, ready for the ramp up and upcoming new programmes, with development plans and recognition provided.
Drive schedule, cost, quality and safety adherence through effective planning, monitoring, and execution of assembly and test processes via SQCDP.
Implement AOS and lean initiatives to optimize processes at the shopfloor and enhance productivity, by promoting Kaizen principles.
Ensure that the safety procedures and practices outlined in company manuals and industry standards are adhered to by all production staff at all times.
Ensure that the statutory and other legal requirements in respect of mandatory reporting, hazard reporting and accident/incident reporting are complied with.
Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, security and correct usage of the company premises, plant, tools and its equipment, taking particular care relative to health and safety within the working environment.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing engineering, quality assurance, procurement, logistics and project management, to ensure the committed KPIs.
PoC for external and internal customers (Head of FALs, Head of Centers of Excellence: airframe, Rotors & Transmissions, as well as Manufacturing Plants) to align deliveries, priorities and propose alternatives to manage the unforeseen events.
Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders and employees on all levels. Seek for long term sustainability of the teams and the operations.
Prepare the future of the operations, including personal resources, infrastructures, training and needs.
Carry out any other duties as they relate to the Head of Production function as outlined by your manager.
The Head of Production is required to be contactable out of hours for emergency related activities.
On duty for the Head of Operations as required.
About you...
Strong experience of managing a diverse and multi-experienced team of assembly production engineers and operatives. Providing direction to those more experienced, and guidance and development to the junior members of the team.
Good, all round understanding of hardware assembly and production, ideally with experience in AOS, and Airbus Operations environment.
A focus on production process improvement, with experience of implementing Kaizen principles or similar.
A strong emphasis on Health & Safety within a manufacturing environment.
A strong emphasis on environment and energy consumption reduction initiatives.
Fluent in Spanish and English.
Strong focus on the company values and on ensuring the long term sustainability of the teams.
Availability to travel.
Able to interact and discuss at all levels in the company.
