STS Technical Services is hiring an experienced EV Technician to join our terminal tractor assembly team in Ridgeland, SC. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in assembling, diagnosing, and maintaining electric terminal tractors while ensuring they operate efficiently and meet safety standards. Job Summary:
As an EV Technician, you will be responsible for assembling and integrating electric vehicle components, diagnosing and troubleshooting EV systems, and ensuring that electric terminal tractors perform to the highest safety and quality standards. You’ll work closely with engineers and assembly line personnel to streamline the production process and optimize vehicle performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- EV Assembly: Assemble electric terminal tractors, ensuring accurate installation of electrical systems, batteries, and components.
- Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify and resolve issues in electric drivetrains, battery management systems, and other EV components.
- Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to ensure the optimal performance and safety of terminal tractors.
- Repairs: Diagnose and repair malfunctions in motors, controllers, and charging systems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and assembly line workers to streamline processes and enhance vehicle performance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of assembly processes, repairs, and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols while handling high-voltage systems and ensure a safe working environment.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong math and blueprint reading skills.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Familiarity with setting up and operating hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to commit to a flexible schedule and punctual arrival for shifts.
- Experience participating in Lean principles and continuous improvement activities.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required; technical certification in automotive or electrical technology is preferred.
- Proven experience as an EV Technician or with electric/hybrid vehicles is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of electric vehicle systems, particularly in industrial applications.
- Proficiency in diagnostic tools and software relevant to EV technology.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and customers.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in non-climate-controlled environments for extended periods.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required on the production floor.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs as needed.
