The Deputy Production Chief, F135 Base Program will have the unique opportunity to be an operations production point of contact for Pratt & Whitney’s external customers and key program partners while leading industrial planning efforts to support rate readiness throughout the Value Stream for the F135 Program.

This position is a rare, high visibility opportunity to be fully integrated with every organization within Pratt & Whitney, which includes our partners and supply chain. The Deputy Production Chief will support various CIPTs (Component Integrated Product Team) within module centers and will focus on delivery, quality, and cost goals while also identifying and mitigating risk in the short to long term. The Deputy Production Chief will also focus efforts on design changes, manufacturing learnings and strategic sourcing initiatives while acting as a backup to the Production Chief as needed.

What you will do:

  • Lead industrial planning - structure, framework and timing on sourcing and manufacturing decisions; drive Material Requirements Planning (MRP) efforts & align with module centers
  • Prioritize and manage production readiness assessments; develop, track, and close action items to improve capacity, capability & producibility at producers
  • Lead single points of failure and material changes that will impact sourcing decisions; ensure transition plans are properly supported to ensure incumbents can deliver until new sources are delivering parts at both production & sustainment rates
  • Identify risks to supplier production ramp including continued fleet sustainment; build mitigation plans and drive actions to closure
  • Oversee the preparation and delivery of Production Readiness activities to the CIPT and Executive Management
  • Identify, quantify and elevate risk to commitments based on hardware requirements, production scheduled, etc.
  • Support all required program activities with the coordination and maintenance of the program industrial plan with CIPTs and Global Supply Chain; track part improvements through a series of Key Process Indicators and standard delivery metrics.
  • Support & lead customer facing program industrial & production reviews as well as coordinating local and on-site meetings with cross-functional teams. 
  • Assist in preparation & execution of key tasks supporting the F135 Base Production Chief as needed
  • Opportunity to lead a team of employees within the Production Chief organization
  • Up to 20 regional, domestic travel

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (or other relevant degree) with 10 years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, operations management, program/project management, quality or closely related industrial environment OR Masters Degree with 7 years of experience.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Experience meeting commitments, balancing and resolving conflicting priorities in deadline driven environment.
  • Understands strategic and business implications and works to provide the best business solution; validated experience working with executive level management
  • Experience leading a team with demonstrated ability to work with all levels of management (incl. executive level), staff and customers across multi-sites / locations
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaizen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (CORE, LSS, etc.)

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
