As a Data Scientist at Air Canada, you will drive the analytical scope and method for projects using Mathematics, Stats, Machine Learning and Business Understanding to derive structure and knowledge from raw data. We are looking for a data scientist that will help us discover the information hidden in vast amounts of data and help us make smarter decisions to deliver even better products and services. Your primary focus will be in applying data mining techniques, doing statistical analysis, and building high quality prediction and measurement systems integrated with our products and services.Responsibilities:
Lead data gathering, analysis, visualization, and data-driven storytelling as a basis of project justification and innovation. It is imperative that sound data analytics is at the core of all Data Science projects and recommendations. Design and create customer scoring models across product, content, and offer channels with affinities to CLV modelsManage testing and maintenance of data science solutions Oversee development of spaneting A/B test designs, metrics definitions for success & implementation of the tests. Lead presentation of the statistical findings and proactively propose solutions for continuous improvements. In collaboration with Marketing/Operations resources, oversee appropriate tagging and deployment and development of performance tracking. Own and lead statistical/machine learning projects as necessary for given business needs. These projects may consist of – large scale/rapid hypothesis testing, classification, prediction, and recommender systems. Develop dynamic, productionized, and scalable propensity models that generate ROI for AC Media clientsAbility to perform analysis on various datasets, from various environments, including clickstream and online behaviorConduct strategic analyses with the know-how to balance getting the details right, while still moving at the speed of businessTranslate and break apart day-to-day business challenges into manageable segments for data science applicationEnhance data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for the build of analytical solutionsProcess, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis and modeling Develop automated processes for large scale data analysisProvide technical guidance to junior members of the team
QualificationsMS in Data Science, Applied Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics or related applied quantitative field preferred5+ years hands-on industry (non-academic) experience in Data Science (or equivalent quantitative job title) with applications in the commercial worldStrong background in applying statistical machine learning techniques to predictive modeling and experience with Machine Learning libraries (via Python, Spark, R, H2O, etc.)Must have proficiency with Machine Learning to solve clustering, classification, regression, anomaly detection, simulation and optimization problems on large scale data setsFamiliarity with CSP/Cloud environments such as AzureExperience with Big Data technologies desired — Hadoop, Spark, H20.ai, Cloud AI platforms, Snowflake, containerization and DS pipeline managementExperience with regularized regression, random forest, boosting methods, and other statistical/machine learning methodsExperience ingesting and manipulating large volumes of data (both tall and wide)Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex analytical concepts to people from other fieldsExperience with data visualization tools PBI, Tableau, etc.Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL, Hive, Pig Good scripting and programming skills
