The Senior Manager Customer Strategy and Portfolio develops, optimizes, and delivers transformational initiatives that help drive the future of Southwest. Their team is responsible for aligning our customer strategy, coordinating strategic initiatives and managing our portfolio management processes across the customer organization. This is a cross-functional role collaborating with various departments and helps align and prioritize projects within the customer and commercial technology portfolio. The Senior Manager Customer Strategy and Portfolio is a strong communicator who enjoys leading and mentoring a Team that is responsible for developing and maintaining strategic projects across the Company.

Responsibilities
Lead and coordinate the development of organizational metrics, goals, and associated initiatives to deliver on the Customer Organization strategy
Guide and lead Team members to implement and plan consistent Customer Organization governance and alignment across Teams
Drive timely communication and ensure alignment for cross-departmental initiatives amongst Customer Organization Department Heads, Commercial Leaders, working Team members, Technology partners, Finance partners, and other stakeholders from other parts of the Company
Manage the Customer Organization portfolio of initiatives, including technology and non-technology efforts, and ensure alignment with strategic goals and outcomes
Drive business coordination in partnership with Technology across all levels of the Customer Organization (Officer, Director, Manager, Individual Contributor) on governance and prioritization of the Customer/Commercial Technology Portfolio
Facilitate Portfolio Governance forums and socialization of governance calendar
Work closely with senior Leaders to deliver key strategy projects, analyses, and studies to support overall achievement of the Customer Organization strategy
Lead development of Executive narrative with presentations for the Southwest Board, Executive Governance, Commercial Leadership Meeting, and other Executive forums
Drive Customer Organization engagement in strategy and planning exercises driven by other parts of the Company (FP&A, Corporate Strategy, Enterprise Alignment)
Monitor risks, issues, and scope, ensuring appropriate level of priority, visibility, and escalation for the Customer Organization plan of record
Must be able to communicate effectively and be capable of carrying out multiple efforts while successfully prioritizing tasks according to the needs of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, portfolio management, Executive storytelling, and performance management
Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times
Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Skilled in combining pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events)
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong, which does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem
Ability to lead discussions with stakeholders from multiple backgrounds who have conflicting priorities; act as mediator if Teams are not aligned and drive towards a recommendation or solution
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in:
Executive-level storytelling
Developing strategies, plans, and decisions, and communicating them to executive leadership
Managing all phases of planning and strategy alignment
Managing people and projects of varying scope, size, and degree of complexity
Resource management
Leading cross-functional planning and governance
Presenting and delivering updates to Executives
Working with cross-functional planning teams to ensure alignment on sequencing, dependencies, funding, and tradeoffs
Collaborating with teams company-wide to create and maintain a cohesive and holistic annual and multi-year plan and provide input around feasibility of plans, capabilities unlocked, technical implications and resource constraints
Large experience within Strategic Planning, Portfolio Management and Lean Portfolio Management
Preferred: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and high emotional maturity with discretion around confidential information
Preferred: Familiarity with the airline industry
Preferred: Experience with Southwest strategic planning, governance, and portfolio processes
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $144,200 per year to $160,200 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the company.
