Overview of role:

We are looking for a Senior Product Owner – Pricing & Merchandising, to join our eCommerce team to help build an elevated guest experience.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge and experience in crafting and executing pricing and merchandising strategies within the eCommerce digital landscape. They excel in enhancing digital channel performance and delivery and are passionate about product development. They have a proven track record of driving conversions and leading large-scale product initiatives, maintaining high standards of excellence. Key deliverables/ responsibilities include:
- Apply pricing and merchandising experience and best practice knowledge in implementing solutions with the eCommerce platform.
- Apply a data driven approach to define, prioritize, and validate the Product roadmap and backlog, using multiple data sources and customer insight (qualitative and quantitative) to continuously drive improvements in the online user experience, online conversion, and engagement with the WestJet Brand.
- Effectively managing various levels of stakeholders by prioritizing high-value requests and leading monthly forums to provide product performance updates, align roadmaps, and ensure stakeholder engagement with the eCommerce platform and guest solutions.
- Lead end-to-end Product initiatives including using research and discovery, development of user flows, wireframes, and stories (with UX/Design), and ongoing optimization in an Agile manner using Scrum methodology.
- Manage team deliverables and timelines related to projects, resolving conflicting priorities, articulating risks, develop mitigation plans or removing scope where needed.
- Define key metrics for digital initiatives and estimated impact while serving as champion on digital channel performance.
- Research, recommend and lead implementation, where applicable, and suggest enhancements based on analysis of competitive digital channels and industry trends.
- Influence and assist on strategic vision for WestJet for your product(s).
- Develop and manage relationships with business stakeholders to gather well-defined requirements in line with business objectives, manage expectations, and gain sign off on deliverables.
- Work with other departments (Commercial teams, Customer Relationship Management, Customer Service, IT) to identify and develop solutions for guest pain points and growth opportunities.
Experience and qualifications:
- Completed Diploma or Bachelors Degree (Business/Marketing or Computer Science)
- Minimum 7+ years of experience working in digital or emerging technology
- Experience managing an e-commerce platform, with a background in pricing and merchandising.
- Understanding of pricing architecture, consumer behavior and merchandising effectiveness.
- Experience managing responsive design with a large consumer footprint
- Experience working in and leading cross-functional teams in an agile environment.
- Experience with managing various level of stakeholders include executive level
- Experience defining scope and managing key deliverables for large projects
- Experience with software development and an appreciation for project management
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail
- Experience in conversion optimization testing
- Excellent detailed written, verbal, presentation skills
- Proven experience in backlog grooming, user story development and prioritization
- A working history that shows a commitment to transparency, trust, and collaboration across all levels of seniority
- A love for education and learning about best-in-class practices, customer experiences, and industry
- Willingness to mentor junior Product Owners on team
- Advanced knowledge in the following practices (preferred):
- User Experience within responsive design
- SCRUM/Agile Development
- Web Analytics and KPIs
- Project management
- Principles of target markets and customer segments
