The Open Communications Systems (OCS) organization within Collins Aerospace, is designing communications systems for Next Generation technologies across a wide variety of platforms.   

We are hiring a Senior Principal IPT Lead in Fort Wayne, IN.

What You Will Do

An effective candidate will need to demonstrate that they have experience as a team lead and possess the ability to work in a highly dynamic environment, working with cross site engineers and technical specialists who are involved in the development of requirements, architecture, design, analysis, detailed trade studies, simulation and test of Radio Frequency (RF) and Electro-Optical (EO) DSP, controls, data links, embedded processing and processor interfaces.

The applicant will lead programs in the capacity of an IPTL/ CAM providing receiving various inputs from an agile work force, performing analysis and providing technical understanding and guidance to the team. Key focus will be on execution of the programs to meet program specifications within allocated cost and schedule. They will prepare and develop staffing and loading across the period of performance, lead design performance and cost trade-offs, organize and lead team meetings, internal design reviews, gate reviews, as well as formal program and customer reviews.

The candidate must show experience in the use of Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and how they have utilized this experience in their previous assignments. The candidate will need to have the capability to report weekly EV metrics along with variances, prepare and present Program Performance Reviews (PPRs), Variance Analysis Reviews (VARs), Estimate At Completion (EACs) and other reports for periodic meetings. Responsibilities involved will also include evaluation of performance of the program/project and take necessary actions to keep the program/project within cost & schedule while identifying and mitigating program risks as well as opportunities.

This successful candidate should be self-motivated and be prepared to work with a focused team with an innovative, yet schedule oriented mindset. The IPTL candidate will be called upon to pursue IRAD projects, lead proposal activities, provide cost estimates and prepare Basis of Estimates (BOEs) based on prior programs. The successful candidate should have a proactive disposition for driving low cost solutions for customer’s needs and recognize the need for urgency in certain situations.

This candidate will need to demonstrate that they have been a team leader and must have a proven track record leading and working well within multi-disciplined teams across multiple sites. Responsibilities of the position will require engagement with engineering management, individual contributors and functional management to align staffing with program needs. Interacting with all parties of the program internal and external to Engineering is critical.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Must have experience in Cost Account Management on high visibility high pressure programs, agile experience and EVMS experience preferred

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in related Systems Engineering or Multi-Disciplined Engineering

  • Proven Experience effectively leading multidisciplinary teams of engineering professionals

  • Experience leading teams and IPT’s, using tools and metrics in managing activities, and interfacing with senior program and functional management

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with Customer financial reporting of EVMS

  • Experience as a individual contributor performing engineering functions related to RF and development

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
