The role: Senior Data Architect
The Data and Insight teams at British Airways play a pivotal role in driving the airline forward by delivering extensive reporting and analytical solutions across the business. With the airline moving towards cloud-based solutions to enhance our data science and business intelligence capabilities, this team is more critical than ever. The demand for new and improved data spans across BA, IAG, and our alliances, making this department a key enabler for innovation and progress in our digital journey.
What you’ll do:
- Lead data modeling and integration strategies, covering all data storage environments across BA.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to BA colleagues on business objectives, requirements, data, processes, and technology.
- Set the data product strategy for assigned business areas, collaborating with technical, analytical, and business teams.
- Oversee architectural activities within Data and Business Intelligence, ensuring best practices and methodologies are applied.
What you’ll bring to British Airways:
- Exceptional leadership in data architecture and business intelligence projects.
- A clear and logical approach to problem-solving, underpinned by strong analytical skills.
- Expertise in cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their application to data science and machine learning.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align data strategy with business needs.
Your experience:
- Proven track record of leading significant data architecture assignments.
- Hands-on experience with data integration tools, ETL processes, and modern data storage frameworks.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python and SQL, with an understanding of DevOps principles in data architecture.
