The Northrop Grumman Space Components, Deployables Operating Unit is a leading supplier of advanced Deployable Reflectors, Solar Arrays, Boom and other structures and mechanisms for Spacecraft and other space-related applications. In addition, the unit also designs and produces microwave EW and slotted waveguide antennas for aircraft, naval, and space applications. Overview
Reporting to the Deployables Director of Programs or Program Management Product Leader in Goleta, the Project Manager 2 will be responsible for supporting key programs within the Goleta business portfolio, notably antennas for aircraft, naval, and space applications. This role will require a technical background, exhibit leadership potential and collaborative people skills with the proven ability experience to work within a technically dynamic, high-growth, fast-paced and strategically important operating unit.
Responsibilities:
Serves as liaison between program management and cross-functional engineering teams during proposal, design, procurement, manufacturing, test, and delivery phases of products
Work with the Program Management team to establish milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules
Foresees and identifies potential problems (understands impacts to other areas)
Reviews and manages budgets and schedules, including Earned Value Management System (EVMS), critical path management, Estimates-at-Completion (EACs), and workload forecasts; prepares status reports for customers and management
Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
Participate in failure root cause analysis and corrective actions as needed
Transition designs to manufacturing, working with the technical team to identify ways to streamline manufacturing and assembly processes, achieving required delivery rates and reduced cost targets
Supports proposal development for change orders and new business and capture and strategic planning
Develops customer and supplier relationships to facilitate open communications about project requirements and supplier capabilities
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline with 2 years of Project Management experience or experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule and as either project lead, integrated program team lead; OR one year of experience with a master’s degree. An additional four years’ experience may be considered in lieu of degree
Experience supporting customers in a project/technical lead role
Ability to communicate with multiple levels of the organization having excellent presentation skills
Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
Proven analytical, technical, strategic and problem-solving skills
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite and MS Project
U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of Program or Project Management experience or similar (e.g. Lead IPT (Integrated Product Team), or Lead NPT (New Product Team) or Systems Engineering lead
Experience with earned value management
Aerospace or defense industry experience
Familiarity with Antennas and RF Engineering
Program execution experience
Gated design development experience (PDR, CDR)
US Government security clearance or ability to get a security clearance
Working Environment & Physical Demands:
Salary Range: $72,100 - $108,100
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
