About us:
We are the Project Management Office (PMO), a key function within Project Management supporting the management of Programmes / Projects through the application of project management processes, methods and tools. We analyse, integrate and provide quantitative and qualitative data to support discussions and decision making at Project Management level. We support effective communication and stakeholder management and have a vital operational role all along the complete lifecycle of the Project.
The department covers Programme Management best practice, Project Control and Support, Project Cost Control, Integrated Planning, Risk and Opportunity Management, Resource Management and Configuration & Data management.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a diverse PMO having interaction with all areas of the business and exposure to all levels of the management hierarchy as well as engaging with internal and external customers and stakeholders. The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is a major customer, together with other customers such as the European Space Agency (ESA).

What you will be doing:
- Assisting the PMO and Project Managers (PM) in the development and maintenance for the appropriate business management tools, other relevant methodologies, tools, templates, documentation and reporting to support the successful delivery of projects;
- Supporting the Head of PMO on delivery improvement workstreams and PM digitalisation. Maintaining and tailoring processes for Project Management as required by the business and developing / maintaining software tools to support the Business and Information Management Systems;
- Liaising with the PMO, Risk and Integrated Planning Managers to support the implementation of best practice Project and Risk Management across the business;
- Actively working on project plans, issue & change management logs, risk & opportunity registers, project management information & data gathering, milestone tracking & customer and other stakeholder monthly reporting to support the successful delivery of projects.
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Currently studying towards a degree in Business Management or related subject;
- An understanding of Project Management methodologies;
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, in particular Excel;
- Proficiency in the use of Google software;
- Experience of using databases is a plus, but not essential;
- Good written and verbal communication skills;
- Good organisational skills.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
