STS Technical Services is hiring a Production Supervisor to oversee daily operations at our Ridgeland, SC manufacturing facility. This role is crucial to ensuring the efficient and smooth functioning of the production floor, leading a team of Tractor Assemblers while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Summary:
As the Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the production floor, developing specific goals and objectives, and ensuring proper inventory control, parts availability, and staff management. You will supervise Tractor Assemblers, overseeing task prioritization, vacation management, staffing, and disciplinary actions. This role also involves material handling, inventory accuracy, shipping/receiving, and continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Task Management: Assign daily tasks to hourly personnel to meet production schedule commitments and cycle time requirements.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all quality, regulatory, and ISO standards are met, including stopping production when necessary.
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain safety and environmental compliance in the department; ensure adherence to OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with Materials, Purchasing, Engineering, Sales, and Product Management to resolve issues and enhance efficiency.
- Training & Development: Develop job function requirements and training plans for team members; manage the department’s skill matrix.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean and continuous improvement initiatives, such as waste reduction, 5S, Standard Work, and Visual Management. Participate in Kaizen Events and value stream mapping.
- Performance Management: Conduct interviews, performance reviews, and manage time & attendance for all direct reports.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Experience: Previous experience in specialty vehicle production or a custom manufacturing environment.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, interpret measurements accurately, and operate hand/power tools commonly used in assembly work.
- Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills with a solid understanding of TICO operating systems and Lean principles.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead and manage teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; some college or continuing education is preferred.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of team leadership experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in non-climate-controlled environments for extended periods.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including safety shoes, glasses, and vests as per company procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk, sit, stand, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs as required by job duties.
