Job Summary

The Manager Fuel Supply and Trading delivers on our Purpose by providing thought Leadership and guidance for fuel value chain management in order to optimize total fuel costs and its financial impact on the Company. This role will interact with the Fuel Operations Team, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, and Network Operations Control (NOC) to manage all back-office transactions and reconcile all movement throughout the network. The Manager Fuel Supply and Trading is a dynamic leader with strong communication skills, who is excited about the opportunity to make a meaningful impact and drive the future of Southwest.

This role is a hybrid position based out of our Corporate Campus in Dallas, TX, which requires Employees to work onsite on our Corporate Campus at least three days a week. Responsibilities
Applies knowledge of jet fuel supply and trading and industry "best practices" to drive Team towards the lowest delivered fuel cost in the industry
Stays abreast of jet fuel commodity markets and logistics
Create and implement complex negotiation strategies
Analyze, develop, and present data for Team, Leadership, and other Stakeholders to support decision making
Manage and oversee all aspects of sourcing inclusive of fuel purchases, strategic spot buys/sells, logistics, invoice resolution, and contract administration
Allocate and guide resources for the gathering of data to conduct market and spend analysis supporting planning and strategic development for Team and Fuel Strategy & Management (FS&M)
Leads supplier performance management by developing KPIs and guide Team on ways to hold suppliers accountable
Contributes to FSCM goal setting process, formulates plan to achieve goals, and mobilizes resources to execute
Serve in a Leadership role and as subject matter expert in industry trade organizations
May perform other job duties as directed by Employees Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including the relative costs and benefits
Skilled in understanding and applying information to contribute to the organizations strategic plan
Skilled in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
Skilled in identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong in order to evaluate options and implement solutions
Education
Experience
Demonstrated experience in directly or indirectly leading Team(s)
Fully functioning, broad knowledge in Professional environment with disciplines such as Refined Products Value Chain, Finance, Accounting, or related field
Licensing/Certification
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station/desk/office area for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Ability to work extended hours as needed including nights, weekends and holidays
Must meet confidentiality expectations as to confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company information
Air travel required
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $130,750 per year to $145,300 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
