Barnes Group Inc. has an opportunity for a Manager, External Reporting, who will be responsible for managing all aspects of external financial reporting. In this leadership role, you will oversee critical financial reporting functions and collaborate closely with senior management across our global organization. This position provides a platform for significant career growth within corporate accounting and broader operational roles within the Company. Core Responsibilities:
- External Reporting: Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Q/K and 8-K, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Technical Accounting: Assist in the the analysis and implementation of new accounting standards, providing guidance on complex technical accounting issues such as pension, lease and revenue recognition accounting, as well as recent changes in disclosure requirements including but not limited to Climate change/ESG and operating segments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments, including legal, tax, and investor relations, to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports and disclosures.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement in financial reporting processes, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Special Projects: Provide accounting guidance and support on special projects, including operational reviews, M&A activities and other Company initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of demonstrated success within public accounting firm or mix of public accounting and private industry – including audit or related financial experience. Emphasis in manufacturing as well as SEC experience is desired but not required.
- Extensive experience in financial reporting and accounting, with a strong background in SEC reporting.
- Expertise in technical accounting issues, including SEC reporting requirements, and new accounting standard implementation.
- Ability to exercise judgment and professional skepticism (look at the “big picture” and understand results of a deliverable, rather than just mechanically going through the steps)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with senior management and cross-functional teams.
Education Requirements:- Bachelors in accounting degree required; Advanced degree and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation are strongly preferred.
