dnata for Airport Services LLC launched Ground Handling services in Erbil, Iraq on the 10th of March 2010, initially commencing passenger handling operations for a total of six airlines, dnata’s business in Erbil now provides passenger, baggage, ramp, and cargo handling services to all the airlines operating to Erbil International Airport.
As the General Manager, reporting to the Board of Directors, you will be responsible for all the functions relating to dnata Erbil which includes organisational performance, manpower planning and deployment, performance management, improving profitability, efficiencies in cost, productivity and customer service. This will include developing and implementing the company’s business strategies to achieve the company’s business needs and goals. You will have ultimate responsibility and accountability on behalf of the Provider for the implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System (SMS) throughout the organization; have the authority to ensure the allocation of resources necessary to manage safety risks to ground operations; have responsibility and accountability for ensuring operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and standards of the Provider; you will be responsible to ensure compliance with the policies & practices set by the Head Office and the laws, regulations and administrative rulings of governmental organizations and other regulatory and advisory authorities.
In this role, you will
- Work with stakeholders in the management team and dnata HQ to develop the company’s long & short term strategic business goals
- Ensure the company’s strategic plans are aligned to the dnata brand and strategic direction
- Translate company’s strategic goals to formulate the operations strategic plan which includes specific strategies in manpower plans, change management, overall profit & loss performance, budget and any special projects.
- Proactively diagnose organizational issues relating to manpower, systems, processes and oversee the development and implementation of solutions to these issues
- Evaluate effectiveness of initiatives and programs launched and make necessary adjustments in line with company’s goals, balancing with industry best practices and trends in the spanet
- Monitor, review and report on the company performance on a regular basis, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated
- Analyse and understand customer’s perception of value through internal and external feedback, and competitor evaluation. Use these findings to assist in designing and developing new products and services
- Lead and oversee the development and execution of all operations related initiatives.
- Deliver on the overall company strategic plan, promoting a safe working environment and high-performance culture to build sustainable operations, achieve profitable business growth and high-quality products & services
- Ensure compliance with company/international standards of workplace safety, ramp safety and security of premises, product and people. In addition, ensure that the company comply with the group corporate governance framework
- Support continuous organisational safety culture change and improvement programs to drive the dnata safety culture through a continuous process of change readiness, transition and adoption that will support key safety initiatives
- Establish, and proactively manage, regular and open lines of communication with clients, relevant agencies, including security and local authorities together with other group companies
- Act as a key ambassador for the company representing the business externally and within the group.
QualificationTo be considered for the role you must meet the below requirements
- Degree and a minimum of 12 years of experience in Airport Operations with an international airline or ground handling agent
- A minimum of 6 years in a managerial role
