DescriptionAt United, we are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Procurement for Engine Components. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class airline that is on a mission to become the best in the industry. This role will provide strategic and operational oversight for a comprehensive, best-in-class Engine Components and Maintenance strategy including financial risk mitigating strategies to achieve lower long-term expense relative to industry peers and coordinates efficient sourcing for Engines & Components Maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Engine Components and Maintenance Procurement strategies to continuously improve the procurement process and capture total cost of ownership reductions.
- Support the Engine & Components Maintenance strategy, performance, and development by tracking insights generated by the Center of Excellence and adapting them to the organization’s reality.
- Lead governance activities, meetings with team, user areas, and organizational leadership to develop strong working relationships and drive procurement strategies that lower cost and risk.
- Assist strategic and transactional purchasing teams by providing guidance in all RFx processes, and applying sourcing standard methodologies such as total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis framework.
- Track and evaluate team’s performance, attract, develop, and retain talent in the department.
- Remain abreast of internal and external factors affecting products and services and develop recommendations for leaders to act on.
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelors degree; Master’s preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant experience with at least 3+ years of management experience in sourcing roles.
- Successful track record in procurement, ideally within Engine & Components Maintenance Procurement.
- Strong understanding of the category industry, processes, and products.
- Experience in understanding, managing, and communicating large data sets.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational and change-management skills.
- Extensive negotiation skills.
- Strong proficiency in written and executive communication.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including leadership experience for geographically separated teams.
