Job Title: Manager of Quality

Department: Quality

Reports To: VP Technical Operations

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for monitoring the quality of the maintenance, preventive maintenance, major repairs and alterations programs to ensure safety and compliance standards for safe operations are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Update daily spreadsheets used for maintenance tracking and aircraft utilization.
  • Assist in organizing / filing aircraft paperwork and records.
  • Maintain the maintenance department training records which includes compliance, auditing, recording, and storing.
  • Reviewing work order packets and work cards for correct completion.
  • Assure that the periodic checks and calibrations are made on special tools and test equipment, and that current records are maintained of those tests and calibration.
  • Make available to all maintenance personnel the required technical data for the maintenance being accomplished and keep the data current with the latest revisions.
  • Assure proper handling of all parts and equipment while in the repair process and when work is completed.
  • Ascertains that the proper inspection records, reports and forms used by the operator are properly executed and presented to the individual with Airworthiness Release Authority.
  • Assist the DOM and CASS Manager with compiling reports and investigations whenever necessary for the CASS Review Board (CRB);
  • Participates in the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) in accordance with the responsibilities detailed in the Safety Management System Manual.
  • Manage the review and setup of Airworthiness Directive (AD) list and scheduling of compliance requirements, for acquisition aircraft.
  • Manage the review and setup of Major Repair listing and scheduling of DTI requirements, for acquisition aircraft.
  • Manage the review and setup of Major Alteration listing, including setup and scheduling of Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) requirements, for acquisition aircraft.
  • Manage the review, setup, and scheduling of Hard Time (HT) and Life Limited Parts (LLP), for acquisition aircraft.
  • Manage company modification requirements to embody STC’s, EO’s, SB’s, etc.
  • Aid in revising manuals whenever necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP Technical Operations

Requirements:

  • Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required
  • Familiar with Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (Parts 43, 91, and 135) as it pertains to aircraft maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel and power point).
  • Working knowledge of a Maintenance Tracking Sytem such as TotalFBO software, Trax, WinAir, CAMP, Flightdocs, etc.
Travel: This position requires frequent travel up to 15-20 of work time.Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience:
  • 5 years of experience in aviation, or part 135 or 121 air carrier operations or corporate aircraft. At least, two years of quality control / quality assurance experience.
Miscellaneous Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must be able to pass a 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by airline regulations and company policies.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1968.
  • Southern Airways participates in E-Verify.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Computer, office equipment, phone skills.
  • The employee is frequently required to sit.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear; to stand, walk, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, handle objects, tools, to reach with hands and arms; and to lift or move 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation, including holidays.
  • Must be able to meet all physical requirements related to aircraft weight limitations before and during employment.
