System Engineer - Mechanical M/F

Job Description:

1.tDescription of the Job
Integrated into the Engineering Direction of Safran Electronics and Defense as a Lead System Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of mechnical systems and equipment over the whole V cycle.

You will work in coordination with the internal project manager and in close collaboration with the local development engineers. In this role, you will be responsible for the definition of the requirements, the definition of the product architecture, the design, the implementation, and the integration of product functions, and finally the formal verification of system requirements.

2.tKey Responsibilities

Requirements Management
•tLead elicitation, definition, and management of system and mechanical requirements (functional, performance, environmental, safety).
•tDecompose aircraft/system-level requirements into mechanical subsystem and component requirements.
•tMaintain end-to-end traceability: stakeholder → system → subsystem → design → verification.
•tOwn requirements baselines, change control, and impact analysis in line with program configuration management.
•tEnsure requirements are clear, compliant, testable, and certifiable.

Aerospace Systems Engineering
•tApply V-Model systems engineering across concept, development, integration, and certification phases.
•tAllocate requirements to structures, mechanisms, actuation, thermal, and installation domains.
•tSupport trade studies, margins management, and requirement rationalization.
•tParticipate in SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and certification reviews from a requirements standpoint.

Interfaces & Configuration
•tDefine and control mechanical interfaces (loads, stiffness, tolerances, envelopes, mass properties).
•tDevelop and maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
•tCoordinate with configuration management to ensure requirements alignment with design maturity.

Verification, Validation & Certification
•tDefine verification methods (Analysis, Test, Similarity).
•tLink requirements to verification plans, procedures, and reports.
•tSupport compliance and certification activities with authorities (EASA / FAA / MoD as applicable).
•tEnsure alignment with safety, airworthiness, and reliability requirements.

Cross-Functional & Supplier Collaboration
•tAct as the focal point for requirements with design, performance, stress, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and test teams.
•tSupport supplier requirement flow-down, compliance tracking, and technical reviews.

Job Requirements:

3.\tRequired Qualifications
•\tBachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
•\t3+ years experience in aerospace systems or mechanical engineering.
•\tProven experience in requirements management for aerospace programs.
•\tStrong knowledge of systems engineering processes and V-Model.
•\tHands-on experience with requirements tools (IBM DOORS or similar).

Preferred Experience & Skills
•\tExperience with large systems having multiple mechanical units.
•\tFamiliarity with aerospace standards:
o\tARP4754A / ARP4761
o\tDO-160, CS-25 / FAR-25 (or equivalent)
o\tAS9100
•\tExposure to MBSE / SysML (Cameo, Rhapsody).
•\tWorking knowledge of hydro/electro-mechanical systems
•\tExperience supporting certification and compliance documentation.
