Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a Nondestructive Test Technician 4 in Ultrasonics (UT) for programs located in the Palmdale, CA facility within the Quality department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review routers, procedures, specifications, and other instructions for completeness and instructions to perform operation
- Process parts in accordance with procedures and technical instructions to evaluate for processing discontinuities exceeding specified requirements
- Operate UT inspection equipment/automated systems
- Set-up, operate, calibrate, and perform Process Control Checks on UT equipment by following established instructions and record results
- Interpret, evaluate, and report evaluation results, as required and outlined
- Fill out required logs and statistical data sheets, as required
- Maintain required job skills and knowledge of requirements (including procedures, specifications, etc.)
- Maintain work area, equipment, and all documents/records to be audit ready at all times
- Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to Level 1 NDT Inspectors and fellow Level 2 NDT Inspectors
- Assist the Level 3 in developing specific test techniques
- Completes these and other job duties as instructed
Basic Qualifications Level 4:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED (education will be verified) and Level 2 Certification per NAS410 in Ultrasonics (certification will be verified)
- Minimum of 6 years related Ultrasonic experience using automated and handheld pulse echo units
- Able to read and interpret blueprint and engineering drawings and be able to document non-conformances as required
- Ability to successfully pass vision screen and color blindness tests
- Ability to pass General, Specific, and Practical exams within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company
- Able to be subject to a variety of physical conditions and areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
- Able to lift up to approximately 25 pounds. May occasionally lift 50 pounds (with assistance)
- Able to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or close spaces
- Must be willing to work any shift, overtime or non-standard work schedule
- This position requires an active DOD Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain Special Program Access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with automated UT inspection systems strongly desired
- Experience with multiple brands of flaw detectors strongly desired
- Experience in the interpretation of flaws in composite materials strongly desired
- Certification in other NDT methods (Liquid Penetrant, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, Radiography) desired
- Positive attitude and ambition to excel/advance in skills and knowledge
- Attention to detail and an ability to produce error-free products and accurately complete associated paperwork or electronic work instructions
- Willingness to cross train in other NDT methods
- Ability to work extended or flexible schedule on short notice as needed
- Able to work under general direction with minimal supervision
- 2 Year degree/certification from NDT Training Institution
Salary Range: $74,900 - $124,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
