SUMMARY:
Responsible for engineering activities to maximize safety, quality and productivity in the daily maintenance of plant equipment in order to drive continuous improvements to equipment availability and throughput.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for safety design modifications and improvements to equipment and facilities.
Responsible for safety investigations and corrective actions.
Responsible for developing, documenting, and improving preventive maintenance programs in order to support the improvement of equipment availability and throughput.
Responsible for developing, documenting, and improving predictive maintenance programs using predictive failure techniques such as vibration analysis, thermo-graphic imaging, etc.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for equipment failures and loss of production. Assist maintenance and provide technical guidance required to return equipment to operation so as to minimize downtime and lost production. Provide “on call” support.
Responsible for analyzing production delay data for establishing and documenting or modifying preventive maintenance tasks. Generate continuous improvement projects based on production delay data.
Prepare and review equipment failure/root cause analysis reports and determine/evaluate corrective action items and the impact of corrective action items to the preventive maintenance programs.
Develop cost justifications for improvement projects and corrective actions.
Develop work orders to detail work requests needed to implement improvements projects or corrective actions. Follow-up and audit to ensure proper completion.
Coordinate outside contractor work activities with maintenance personnel or production personnel as required to minimize impacts to cost and production.
Responsible for critical spare parts assessments and parts standardization.
Responsible for developing and implementing standard operating procedures, training, and skill development for all personnel.
Determine and install appropriate performance metrics that will promote long-term continuous improvement programs consistent with the operating objectives of the department.
Provides support for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
Perform Project Engineering duties.
Fill in for the Supervisors or Department Manager as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work with planning to prepare, coordinate and maintain schedules for extended production outages and major maintenance work.
Work with maintenance supervisors and department managers to determine priorities and establish schedules.
Support the management and maintaining of the information required for utilizing the plant computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Work with maintenance craftsmen and operations to resolve equipment failures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or technical discipline related to maintenance.
Formal training or experience with Preventive and Predictive Maintenance programs. Experience working with Autocad / Solidworks.
Engineering or Maintenance position with a minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience.
SPECIAL SKILLS:
Demonstrate overall experience in electrical and mechanical maintenance and repairs. Demonstrate expertise in a specific engineering field.
Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems causing equipment failures.
Experience in Preventive and Predictive Maintenance.
Experience with Total Productive Maintenance and Lean Manufacturing philosophies.
Training in several maintenance disciplines such as hydraulics, welding, machining etc.
Demonstrate the ability to lead people and get results through others.
Working knowledge of principles of TOC/Lean Manufacturing
