Responsibilities

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME)

Panasonic Avionics Corporation (PAC) is a world leading supplier of in-flight entertainment, communication system and aircraft maintenance company with Australia’s head office located in Alexandria, NSW with offices in NSW, VIC, NT, SA, QLD and WA.

Currently we have multiple opportunities for Maintenance Services Technician to be based in our office at airports in Melbourne.

Duties and responsibilities:Aircraft/IFE Maintenance and Support
  • Perform line maintenance under the direct supervision of the certifying - Maintenance Service Technician II, Maintenance Service Representatives and/or Maintenance Lead/Supervisors, during transit checks in accordance with the contractual obligations or Panasonic Line Maintenance Procedures (LMP) and report the findings in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Perform allocated maintenance tasks under guidance including but not limited to:
    • Troubleshoot system failures down to Line Replaceable Units (LRU), cabling, or other aircraft systems and perform functional tests post rectification.
    • Component replacement, adjustments, inspections and functional tests in accordance with all applicable approved documentation.
    • Perform Cabin Sweep’s in accordance with contractual obligations or Panasonic LMPs and report findings.
    • Perform transit and maintenance checks in accordance with contractual obligations or Panasonic LMPs and report findings
    • Perform aircraft airframe, engine and systems defect rectification in accordance with all applicable approved documentation
    • Perform Built-in (BIT) and manual test.
    • Perform Software and Media Loading.
    • Clean components and equipment racks in accordance with contractual obligations.
    • Complete aircraft documentation in accordance with contractual obligations and/or Panasonic processes.
  • Ensure timely escalation of any problem occurring in coordination with the Lead or Supervisor.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor.
  • May be required to work on other aircraft equipment as trained and authorised.
  • Communicate and interface with customer.
  • Sign for all work completed as applicable under a company issued authority and governing regulations.
  • Actively promote the PAC Safety Management System (SMS) culture.
Administrative:
  • Assist in the management of airside inventory, cycle counting, packaging and shipping of inventory.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping health and safety and tool care.
  • Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned by immediate Supervisor or Management.
The applicant must have:

Knowledge / Skill requirements

  • Essential Aircraft maintenance experience including but not limited to:
    • Ability to determine if a LRU requires replacement.
    • Ability to determine if a unit is bad from stock or requires further troubleshooting.
    • Ability to use basic troubleshooting equipment and applicable techniques.
    • Ability to carry out aircraft refueling, oil uplift, break and wheel changes.
    • Ability to carry out airframe and engine visual check.
    • Ability to carry out defect rectification.
    • Ability to carry out aircraft push back
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a high-stress, high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Basic computer skills in using Linux command line instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Use professional concepts while applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Must be fluent in English
Education / Experience requirements
  • Secondary / technical school as minimum.
  • Related electronics or aircraft avionics or mechanical background.
Other requirements
  • Must have the legal right to work in assigned country through nationality, visa or work permits.
  • Ability to pass extensive security and background checks.
  • May require both international and domestic travel, up to 25 of time, to other line station locations to provide relief from time to time as required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be able to meet the requirements of the airport authority for access and vehicle operation on their premises.
  • Ability to work a rotating shift roster that spans 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
  • Manual dexterity to grasp and work with tool parts and equipment.
  • Ability to:
    • Climb and work from ladder or platform and,
    • Sitting, standing, bending or twisting for extended periods and
    • to lift up to 50 pounds and
    • operate under extreme weather conditions and in confined spaces for extended periods and
    • Ability to cope with environmental conditions which may include exposure to congestion and varying noise levels.
