Boeing is currently looking for an Experienced F/A-18 Structures Mechanic to join their team in San Antonio, Texas. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) business organization.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Position Responsibilities:
- Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty
- Maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components
- Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions
- Applies required expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation
- Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as; blueprints or manufactures manuals.
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle.
The position requires compliance to SA Site Tool and FOD procedure.
Basic Qualifications(Required Skills/Experience):
- 5+ years of experience working as an aircraft mechanic
- 5+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings and schematics.
- Willing and able to work any shift
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Experience with F/A-18/Fighter or Depot Level/Heavy Structures maintenance.
- Knows how to read/interpret Blueprints, Engineering Drawings, Service Bulletins, Work Orders and aircraft TO’s (Tech Orders).
- Identify if a fastener is a rivet, blind rivet, screw, hi-lock, bolt, or lock bolt.
- Remove damaged screws without damaging surrounding structure.
- Ability to perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation to critical support structures and fracture critical areas to preform structural modification and repair.
- Utilize advanced tools and equipment to fabricate, assemble and install aircraft structural components.
- Familiarization with multiple materials such as titanium and composites.
- Operate a forklift, mobile crane, and riding type electric powered elevating equipment to accomplish work assignment.
- Must be familiar with Hazardous and Lock Out Tag Out systems applications.
- Will be required to assist other team members General Mechanics, Avionics and Electrics to ensure cost and schedule is met.
- Highlight any technical issues, discrepancies or other issues to the program lead and manager.

High school diploma or GED and typically 10+ years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Rate: $74,880 - $36/hr
Additive Pay: $1.00/hourly for Airframe Certification
$1.00/hourly for Powerplant Certification
$2.00/hourly for both Airframe & Powerplant Certifications
