The Research & Development (R&D) Engineering team is tasked with the development of components and new technologies intended for evaluation on next generation aircraft. The Research & Development (R&D) Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic will be responsible for installation of components, assemblies, and systems, performing maintenance, repair and alteration on aircraft. The Experimental A&P Mechanic must be able to ensure the final product meets the design criteria and Cirrus specifications. This position places a premium on the individual to be constantly learning, growing and applying new industry technologies, and providing long term value to the company. The individual must be self-motivated, have a high degree of integrity, and enjoy working with a highly diverse cross functional team.
ABOUT THE JOB
The weekend position works 3-12-hour days, paid for 40, in addition to a 12 shift differential is provided as additional compensation for working during non-standard hours, such as weekends.
$2,000 sign-on bonus
Shift
Training: Tuesday - Friday, 6 AM - 4:30 PM - training is usually 1-2 months based on the individuals background
Regular Shift: Friday - Sunday, 5:00 AM – 5:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpret and work from engineering drawings, blue prints.
- Install and service the aircraft systems as required, inspect engine parts for improper wear or other defects, perform engine runs, demonstrate ability to learn and retain new skills.
- Successfully collaborate with a wide audience during the development of new technologies, designs, and build efforts.
- Proficient in the use of specifications, drawings, and verbal instructions to determine sequence of operations
- Operate, inspect, repair and replace aircraft system components, evaluate and troubleshoot flight control rigging, aircraft structures, fuel, brake, environmental and electrical systems, replace or repair faulty components such as alternators, magnetos, propeller, ignition system, fuel system, etc.
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum 5-7 Years aviation industry experience
- Aviation maintenance background. Airframe power plant license and/or Inspection Authorization mandatory.
- Familiar with the applicable FARs and techniques, practices, aids, equipment, and tools used to perform maintenance.
Computer Skills
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Cirrus aircraft experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of machine tools, metal fabrication or composites, would be a plus
