Position Summary
Certified Welder for the GTFSD Glendale facility, an FAA repair station for fuel nozzles used in commercial and military aerospace and industrial applications. With direct guidance in a team environment, responsible for performing complex manual and automated welds using a large variety of equipment on high temperature, high strength alloy metals. Must become certified to AWS D17.1:2001.
** This position will be on 2nd shift hours: Monday - Friday 3pm - 11pm**
Responsibilities
Essential Functions :Following established procedures, responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
- Read and interpret project plans, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams to perform task at hand.
- Prepare parts for welding including cleaning, de-bur and grind metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture Interpret blueprints, engineering orders, assembly routes, test specifications and quality directives.
- Perform certified welding operations based on repair needs.
- Make parameter adjustments, within the limits of procedure, to fine tune the process in order to achieve conformance standards.
- Set up and maintain the set-up to assure repeatability. May also set up and maintain the set-up of others.
- Sections sample hardware for conformance and achieves first article.
- Works closely with supervision and is responsible for maintaining an inventory of welding materials and supplies.
- Observe all safety rules and maintain a foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
- May be required to run automatic weld machine.
- Perform other related responsibilities
Qualifications
Qualifications
- HS diploma or equivalent.
- At least 3 years of welding or related experience
- Able to become certified to AWS D17.1.2001.
- Able to read and understand product and process drawings, procedures, weld symbols and quality requirements.
- Must demonstrate manual dexterity.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
- Working knowledge of machine shop mathematics.
- Must demonstrate effective English verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with others and be a participative team player.
