If so, our Defense Systems F-35 Sustainment HPSI Operating Unit, wants YOU to join our Team as an Aircraft Mechanic 4 and join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. You will be assigned as an Aircraft Mechanic – Powerline supporting F-35B organizational maintenance at MCAS Miramar, CA. Your Mission will be to support O-Level maintenance on F-35B aircraft.
Your duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- You will perform Maintenance, Repair, Launch, and Recovery activities on F-35 aircraft.
- You will ensure aircraft are in exceptional mechanical condition and safe for flight by performing maintenance, inspections, and servicing requirements on all aircraft systems in accordance with JTD and all applicable program and service guidance.
- You will perform and/or assist with Field-Level Modifications and TCTD maintenance actions.
- You will assist with OJT training for team members and partner aircraft maintenance personnel.
- You will maintain and update aircraft records and status within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) of ALIS.
- You will keep the production staff updated on aircraft status.
- You will perform other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Maintenance Manager.
- You will perform required Airframe and Power Plant General (APG) / Airframes tasks as part of F-35 Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) performing organizational-level modifications.
- You will use your training, knowledge, and experience to obtain special certifications (example: confined space, borescope, etc.) as locally required per COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2series and NAVMC 4790.1.
Maintenance tasks include:
- Configuring aircraft for modifications, removal and installation of attaching hardware, component removal and installations, assistance with software uploads, various system operational checkouts, and egress system maintenance.
- Order parts and materials needed for maintenance/repairs.
- Assist in pre-flight/post flight inspection of the aircraft.
- Assist in start-up/shut down of the aircraft.
- Employ operational resource management principles.
- Perform a multitude of ground handling duties such as, but not limited to, taxi directing of aircraft, towing of aircraft, refueling of aircraft, securing/un-securing of aircraft, etc.
- Utilize a multitude of information management systems.
- Utilize maintenance training management database systems, to track maintenance training progression and qualifications.
Technical requirements include:
- Fault isolation, troubleshooting, and repair of system failures detected during operational checks associated with modifications and restoration of aircraft to flying condition subsequent to accomplishment of modifications and maintenance. Interprets and uses various test equipment and works from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
- Perform ground maintenance tasks and repairs on aircraft and mission systems.
- Interpret technical manual/correspondence (i.e., JTD instructions, drawings, or diagrams).
- Identify and diagnose aircraft and mission systems malfunctions.
- Document all aircraft inspections, maintenance, and repairs in a maintenance management database system.
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED and a minimum of 6 years of experience
- Experienced with F135 unscheduled corrective actions in response to engineering action request and F35 engine removal and installation to include engine R&I trailer and aircraft connections, Module swaps and replacements, LRU, externals components and lift fan removals and installations.
- Plane Captain Certification
- US Navy or Marine Corps CDI/CDQAR, Air Force 5 or 7 Level, or equivalent Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Certification.
- Experience in the use of ALIS and associated programs for documenting maintenance and reporting deficiencies within CRM and JDRS.
- A current Secret Clearance (or higher).
- Ability to obtain Special Access Program clearance, as required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data and blueprint drawings.
- Provide training via self-paced readings, labs, and on-the job training to individuals in the performance of ground maintenance duties.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills are necessary in the performance of duties.
- You must be able to depart on temporary duty assignments— on short notice.
- You must be willing/able to provide temporary support to our other CLS locations and/or emerging deployments.
- You must be willing/able to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
- You must be able to meet the physical demands of this position, including regularly required to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient in F-35B engine module separation, the use of inspection and measurement tools, experienced in blending damage on blades, and the removal and installation of F-35B engine, lift fan, and associated components.
- F-35 Power Plants Systems Technician Course
- F-35 Aircraft Mechanic Organizational Maintenance Course
- U. S. Navy or U. S. Marine Corps experience with thorough understanding of F-35 Fighter Aircraft Systems and operations under COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 and 4790.35.
- F-135 Power plant engine run certification, F-35 avionics systems, fighter aircraft crew escape systems (i.e., canopy and ejection seat), experience in structural repairs and low observable system maintenance are highly desirable.
- 6 or more years AV-8B, F/A-18, F-22 or F-35 Airframes and/or Crew Chief Experience.
- Excellent communication skills and experience in a Military-focused Customer Service-Related Industry.
Salary Range: $74,900 - $124,800
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
