Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported. Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs. A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation. This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals. Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of noncomplex electrical systems. A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required. Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.

Aircraft Mechanic III (Aircraft Engine Mechanic) WG-8602 equivalent

Performs all duties associated with troubleshooting, repair, modification, and final adjustments to one or more types or models of malfunctioning conventional and/or modified aircraft engines in the maintenance shops, or while on the aircraft. Engine work will be performed on GE jet engines, GE engine sub-components, and other types of propulsion components requiring maintenance.

  • Performs all duties associated with aircraft engine systems. Performs disassembly and reassembly operations and makes prescribed modifications and repairs to aircraft engines, engine assemblies, and accessories, while setting up work area to perform specific operations.
  • Reads and interprets technical orders, blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, or other maintenance specification data to obtain technical information required for troubleshooting, assembling, and trimming engines.
  • Determines when assemblies, components, and parts are operating properly; whether portions must be repaired or replaced; and the type of adjustment or alignment required. Uses various automated test equipment to perform diagnoses.
  • Adapts emerging technology and uses new tools, test devices, and equipment such as digital diagnostic equipment, on-board electronic equipment and systems, engine analysis software, specialized measuring devices, and automated storage and retrieval of in-flight and historical performance data to aid in identifying aircraft related problems that may affect engine operation.
  • Completes repairs, major overhaul, and adjustments of the complete engine to include minor repair or replacement of attached electrical, pneumatic, and fuel subsystems, engine controls, and instrumentation.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs, and adjusts secondary power systems to include the auxiliary power unit and the accessory gearbox when required.
  • Performs the final assembly buildup of the total engine by installing accessories or accessory systems.
  • Uses standard and precision measuring instruments to detect and locate the source of vibration in propellers, reduction gears, or engine rotors; uses pyrometers to check engine combustion, and test benches that read multiple parameters in oil, vacuum, and torque.
  • Examines electric wiring harnesses, hydraulic and fuel lines, fittings, and other connections to detect faulty, worn, or otherwise unserviceable items.
  • Sets up scaffolds, ladders, stands, and other equipment required to prepare the work site.
  • Properly performs troubleshooting on a variety of conventional systems.
  • Satisfactorily determines when engines, assemblies, and components are operating properly or must be repaired or replaced, and the type of adjustment and alignment needed within accepted time limits.
  • Satisfactorily perform disassembly, repair, rework, and reassembly of aircraft engines, their assemblies, and components, and within allowable time limits.
  • Accurately determines alternative methods and trade technologies to adapt to new or unfamiliar engines or accessory systems, including adapting emerging technology in completing assignments.
  • Effectively uses diagnostic and on-board electronic equipment and systems, standard and specialized tools, and test equipment.
  • Performs micro welding on jet engine tail pipes and heat shielding blankets.

WAGE: $41.98
Additional Rate: Health and welfare of $6.00 for each hour worked to be used for medical expenses/health benefits, any unused funds will roll over into a 401k at the end of the year.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 Years on platform is preferred, and/or 3 years in AMIII career field.
  • Authorized to clear Red X primary system.
  • Authorized to accomplish in-progress inspections (IPI) primary system.
  • Authorized to remove warning/danger tags.
  • Authorized to sign condition tags.
  • 4 of 4 personnel Full Engine/ground run position qualified, authorized to verify Not Repairable This Station (NRTS), and Authorized tow vehicle operator.
  • 4 of 4 personnel certified to perform Micro welding on tail pipe heat shielding blankets.
