Hours of Operation:

  • Day shift: Mon-Fri; 0700-1600
  • Swing Shift: Mon-Fri; 1500-2400
  • Mid Shift: Sun-Thurs; 2300-0800

Aircraft Mechanic III (Electricians) WG-2892 equivalent

  • Leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance.
  • Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
  • Capable of performing, supervising, and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs.
  • A person in this position maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components, and applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
  • This worker also applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
  • Work typically requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of noncomplex electrical systems.
  • A detailed knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, etc. is required.
  • Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
  • This worker will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
  • Provide troubleshooting, modification and repair of complex electrical and environmental systems, components, and accessories on the U-2 aircraft. Perform final functional and operational testing of these systems.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, corrects, and maintains electrical power control systems which include tie-in of power and control circuits with other functional systems.
  • Tests, troubleshoots, corrects, and maintains environmental control systems which pressurization with systems.
  • Replaces defective control units, relay boards, servo units, indicating instruments, valves, ducts, or other components of the electrical and environmental systems.
  • Installs nonconventional electric and related electronic equipment by routing and connecting wiring to new or existing electrical or electronic systems, components, or equipment.
  • Research aircraft modification history, technical orders, engineering change proposals, and manuals concerning wire codes, wiring configuration, and testing procedures.
  • Assists engineering personnel in developing modifications and changes on electrical, electronic, instrument, and other integrated electrical systems as required.
  • Sets up and operates computerized multiple circuit analyzing equipment to run established and new diagnostic programs in various test modes to test aircraft electrical circuitry and inter-connecting cabling of the entire aircraft or individual systems, such as radar, flight control, navigational computers, and radio flight controls.
  • Manufactures a variety of aircraft-specific or specialized “breakout boxes” and panels to facilitate testing of electrical systems.
  • Assists programming personnel in developing, debugging, or modification of diagnostic programs to identify apparent contradictions between technical guides and test programs. Effectively plans tasks and determines appropriate steps and actions necessary to complete the project or job.
  • Accomplishes work in an accurate manner and within established time frames.
  • Accurately researches aircraft modification history and interprets technical orders, engineering change proposals, and manuals concerning wire codes, wiring configuration, and testing procedures.
  • Effectively sets up and operates computerized circuit analyzing equipment in troubleshooting systems, components, and accessories of complex electrical equipment.
  • Performs accurate final calibration of systems.
  • Performs accurate final functional and operational tests of systems after repair or modification.

WAGE: $41.98
Additional Rate: Health and welfare of $6.50 for each hour worked to be used for medical expenses/health benefits, any unused funds will roll over into a 401k at the end of the year.

Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 Years on platform is preferred, and/or 3 years in AMIII career field.
  • Authorized to clear Red X primary system.
  • Authorized to accomplish in-progress inspections (IPI) primary system.
  • Authorized to remove warning/danger tags.
  • Authorized to sign condition tags.
  • 6 of 6 personnel Authorized to verify Not Repairable This Station (NRTS).
  • Solder certification with experience.
  • 1 of 6 personnel Authorized tow vehicle operator.
