Cargo Logistics Agents at Pegasus Aviation Services perform a variety of warehousing duties which require an understanding of the establishment’s bonding and storage plan. Work involves most of the following: verifying materials (or merchandise) against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage locations, storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. This worker may operate forklifts, hand or power trucks in performing warehousing duties. The Forklift Operator operates a manually controlled diesel, electric, or liquid propane gas powered forklift to transport goods and materials of all kinds about a warehouse, or other establishment. The CLA will also be required to run freight and mail to and from the aircraft, the post office, and the warehouse facility. Loading and unloading of cargo on a daily basis is to be expected.
The CLA position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures. It generally functions under supervisory direction or guidance of the Director, Passenger and Cargo Services.
Responsibilities
- Arranges transport of goods with shipping or freight companies.
- Notifies consignees, passengers, or customers of the arrival of freight, and arrange for delivery.
- Advises clients on transportation and payment methods.
- Prepares manifests showing, mail, freight weights, and transmits data to destinations.
- Determines methods of shipment, and prepares bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
- Understand and be proficient in hazardous material handling and shipping requirements.
- Checks import/export documentation to determine cargo contents and classify goods into different fees and tariff groups.
- Estimates freight or postal rates, and records shipment costs and weights.
- Retrieves stored items and trace lost shipments as necessary.
- Manage files and records accordingly for each airline or customer.
- Complete daily sales report for each customer along with proper disbursement of reports and records.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated high level of expertise in Windows based computer programs, i.e. Excel, Word.
- Previous customer service experience.
- Be at least 16 years of age.
- Must be willing to work in inclement weather.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds comfortably.
- Must have knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, including the relative costs and benefits.
- Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Must have the ability to speak to others to convey information effectively in order to make sure that the cargo is handled properly.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior cargo agent experience.
Language Skills:
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Speak effectively one-to-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Math skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Abilities:
- Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.
- Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
- The CLA on occasion may lift or move with help up to 200 pounds, and/or more frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds the CLA is regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk. The CLA may be required to climb, sit, and balance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
- The CLA is usually working outside and is exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures which include rain, snow, wind and extreme temperatures.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. Occasionally high noise levels where hearing protection is required and provided.
