Inspects and repairs University’s aircraft fleet. Support of flight in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations and the maintenance department’s policies and procedures.
Major Duties
- Inspects aircraft, including engine, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural systems.
- Records and documents work performed in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations, Including Airframe and Powerplant license numbers.
- Repairs aircraft and supporting systems.
- Taxies aircraft and performs aircraft engine operational checks.
- Supports students through their aviation maintenance department internships.
- Looks after maintenance shop and shop equipment.
- Accomplishes preventative maintenance to aircraft and systems.
- Executes online maintenance tracking systems to support aircraft.
- May hire, train, evaluate and supervise student employees.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of training program through a Federal Aviation Administration certificated Aviation Maintenance Technical School, or equivalent combination
- of experience in the field through on the job training.
- One year’s relevant experience.
- Experience in general aviation inspection repair and maintenance.
- Federal Aviation Administration airframe and powerplant certificate.
Desired Qualifications
- FAA private pilot certificate
- Cirrus, Piper and Cessna aircraft experience
- Lycoming and Continental Motors experience
