Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) has an exciting opportunity for a Material Handler to join our team in Huntington Beach, CA.
Occupational Summary:
Expedite the flow of materials, fabricated parts, purchased parts, electrical/electronic materials, assemblies and tooling for Production, Assembly, Maintenance, Tooling, and support departments. Issue and store tools and audio/visual equipment. Maintain, unload, store, mix, and disburse required inventory of chemical and gases used in aircraft or missile manufacturing.
Position Responsibilities:
- Locate, coordinate and expedites spare parts priority orders through the ordering process, part procurement, and shipping systems. Setup and control records of orders to assure prompt handling according to priority assigned.
- Expedite delivery of materials to outside manufacturing subcontractors. Perform all necessary functions to handle and determine effectivity of outside manufacturing engineering changes, checking for planning and release errors, and arrange for and expedite delivery of tooling to and from subcontractors.
- Locate sources of supply, prepare, and process work sheet requisitions for emergency purchase of critically needed materials. Contact vendors and/or purchasing for delivery commitments and shipping information,
- Perform follow-up work on assigned shortages of materials, purchased parts, fabricated parts, assemblies, and tooling by tracing them to the source and instigate necessary action to relieve shortages.
- Determine priorities or orders within electrical/electronic departments. Determine practicability of splitting orders utilizing factors of set-up time, tooling requirements, operation sequences, and effect on subsequent functions including sub and final assembly.
- Store, issue, receive, record, and identify cutting and hand tools, precision measuring instruments, portable power tools, and miscellaneous related items. Maintain, check specifications, records, and check serial numbers, quantities, condition and certification data of tool crib items. Validate shipments and maintain inventory. Prepare orders to replenish stock, update calibrations and certifications, and refurbish damaged or worn items.
- Receive, unload, store, disburse, and deliver chemical and gasses. Validate orders, bills, and requisitions for completeness. Mix or dilute chemicals to make soldering fluxes, line block solutions, ammonia solutions, sulfuric acid, electrolytic, etc., as directed. Acts as an authorized agent of the company with responsibility for managing all supplier-related activities and the authority to commit company resources through contracts and agreements.
- Read and interpret work authorizing documents, drawings, sketches, operation sheets, and engineering orders to facilitate the prevention and elimination of shortages. Must have knowledge of the automated production control system, schedules, shortages, manufacturing and test operations, and availability of materials. Assure safety precautions as outlined by Process or Safety Engineering are followed.
- Operate power trucks, hand trucks, dollies, slings and hooks, ground overhead cranes, and hoists. Must obtain valid driver’s license.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
Security Clearance & Export Control Requirements:
This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- More than 1 year of experience working in a stockroom/crib environment using an inventory system
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- More than 1 year experience with warehouse inventory (e.g. parts accuracy and accountability)
- More than 1 year experience in MRP or other computer system that manages inventory and/or inventory transactions
- More than 1 year of experience operating forklift or jackstacker
Typical Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work/ military experience.
Relocation:
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
