Interior Installer (Full Time)
Department: All Openings, Manufacturing - Experienced, Manufacturing - Entry Level
Interior Installer compensation range(based on experience level)$18- $32/hr
Interior InstallerI($18/hr-$24/hr)
Assist in the unwrapping and rewrapping of upholstered interior panels as required to facilitate fitting and installation.
Assist with the removal and installation of upper and lower cabin doors.
Cut and trim panels with the use of shears, grinders, and sanding as required to ensure clean and presentable fit.
Mix and apply adhesives and prepare surfaces for successful bonding.
Apply spray paint from a spray can and similar paint dispersion products or devices.
Route wires, harnesses, and connectors to meet design requirements and facilitate the installation of panels.
Perform minor paint brush rework and touchup of interior components as required.
Assist quality control with final inspection and rework non-conformities as required.
Use various hand tools provided by department, maintaining accountability as specified by SMP policy.
Make and secure electrical connections using previously installed electrical connectors.
Clean, polish, and inspect windows
Install required informational placards and decals.
Make required record entries in logs, forms, and work orders per QP and department specific requirements.
Adjust work processes and shift schedule/hours to meet production schedules as determined by the supervisor or manager.
Complete preventive maintenance on tools, equipment, and paint booths as directed.
Continuously monitor inside of aircraft and outside areas for foreign objects and debris as define by Piper SMP policy.
Follow established work procedures to minimize unnecessary rework and/or scrap.
Assist quality control with final inspection and rework non-conformities as required.
Operate department specific support equipment as required.
Report machine/equipment malfunctions to senior painter or Supervisor.
Safely move aircraft through work spaces and paint booths by hand and with support equipment.
Willingness to temporarily be assigned to other departments to assist in aircraft production.
Adjust work processes and shift schedule/hours to meet production schedules as determined by the supervisor or manager.
Partner with senior teammates within career path to receive and share practical knowledge for proper training to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Adhere and maintain all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform duties as assigned by supervisor.
Interior Installer II($21/hr-$30/hr)
Verify color and options match APO and EXP form requirements prior to interior component installation.
Unwrap and rewrap upholstered interior panels as required to facilitate fitting and installation.
Inspect and approve torquing of aircraft components. Occasionally approve torque applications completed by team mates.
Layout and drill holes to avoid short edge distance, double drilled holes, and damage to rivets, structure, and wiring.
Remove and install upper and lower cabin doors as required.
Function check assembly installations for expected operation and correct as required.
Perform emergency egress door function checks as required.
Perform intercom and radio checks after complete interior installation.
Install final interior assemblies including aircraft seats, cabinets, window shades, tables, covers, panels, etc.
Adjust slides, detents, springs, latches, cables, etc. to achieve desirable operation.
Utilize specialized calibrated equipment for measuring pressures, orientation, torque, voltage etc.
Complete basic removal and installation of rivets, including solid and pull rivets.
Ability to obtain and maintain necessary Piper Acceptance stamps and torque certification required for the position.
Provide final FOD check and inspection of airframe components prior to installation of interior panels.
Ability to and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Adhere, maintain and assist teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform duties of lower graded position within Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Senior Interior Installer II($24/hr-$32/hr)
Working knowledge of Windows based computers and programs are necessary to perform the duties of this position. Working knowledge of the PACT system and SFIS as related to Piper.
Assist engineering and marketing disciplines in developing the implementation of new processes and materials.
Works with other manufacturing areas to ensure production readiness for design changes.
Work cross functionally with other business disciplines to identify failure root causes and prevention methods.
Work as a manufacturing representative during FAA inspection and auditing of manufacturing processes.
Serves as lead with the ability to guide and willingness to receive and share practical knowledge, train, cross-train and mentor teammates within career path to perform necessary job functions and requirements in order to attain satisfactory levels of performance and production effectivity.
Adhere, maintain, assist and train teammates within career path to all departmental compliance requirements such as Safety, Environmental Protection, FOD and Tool Control, 5S and other assigned programs.
Perform audits of areas within the department as required to maintain compliance with all FAA and Piper operational requirements. Initiate related operational process or procedural corrective action, or request additional assistance from leadership or other support teams where necessary.
Perform duties of lower graded position with Career Path and other duties as assigned by supervision.
MinimumQualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Related aircraft interior installer experience requirements:
o Interior Installer M-Class I: 1 - 2 year of experience
o Interior Installer M-Class II: 2 - 5 years of experience
o Senior Interior Installer M-Class: 5 years of experience
Ability to work scheduled shift and hours, including overtime
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Use of hand and power tools as required
Follow all safety procedures
Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
Adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS) and other manufacturing instructions.
