Cost Accounting Manager
Summary
The Cost Accounting Manager will forecast, collect and analyze financial information related to the company’s Revenue, Direct Margin, and Inventory.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides detailed financial analysis and reports Accounting, Sales, and Production to include program and product profitability reporting.
- Prepares periodic cost reconciliation reports tracking data such as changing labor and supply costs.
- Manage inventory valuation and maintain inventory reconciliations
- Monitors warehouse facilities to evaluate inventory transactions such as receiving, storage, shipping, and inventory integrity.
- Participate in the ongoing 24-month SIOP reporting.
- Analyze past financial performance to predict future performance and to advise the company on its financial strategy.
- Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
- Assemble and summarize data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks
- Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking, and process analysis.
- Conduct business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models
- Identify trends, advise, and recommend actions to Controller and senior management based on sound analysis
- Track and determine financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts.
- Collaboration with Purchasing team weekly for inventory purchases.
- Collaborate with Planning team for Military and Customer service for Commercial revenue forecast.
- Assists with the interpretation of customer requirements into feasible options and communicating these back to the business stakeholders.
- Drives process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function
- Maintains expert understanding of company Inventory and Inventory systems to insure accurate inventory and direct costs
- Supports the Pricing and Proposal function by providing historical costing information for all elements of cost.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Thorough understanding of cost accounting principles and procedures.
- Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office, and financial software applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong fluency with Excel formulas and Functions
- Outstanding presentation, reporting and communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
Additional Skills preferred
- Experience with SQL or Power BI
- Knowledge of FAR, CAS and DFARS regulations.
- Government accounting
- Program/Project Estimates At Completion (EAC) development/calculations and periodic tracking of EAC’s and Estimates to Complete (ETC).
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
- 5 – 10 years of professional work experience as an accountant, auditor, or analyst
- Previous experience as a cost account or program finance analysist in an actual manufacturing environment is required.
- Aerospace and Defense (A&D) experience a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
Pay Range: $90,000 - $135,000 annual salary
