We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our Software team. The location for this opportunity is Melbourne, Florida and will be primarily based within our office spaces to support program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule meaning you will get every other Friday off. The position has NO remote or Hybrid work available.
This is a vital position to the program in support of developing and integrating mission critical software with legacy and next generation sensors. Candidate will work under only general direction, independently determines, and develops approaches to solutions supporting the program needs. Candidate will act as a liaison from time to time with frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. The Candidate shall be willing to travel to other sites to support TIMs, integration efforts, and other software related tasking. The Candidate shall also be willing to adjust work schedule to meet the needs of across the nation as required.
Essential Functions:
Support the development of system/software/tests as a member of a team employing AGILE-focused processes
Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with programs objectives
In depth understanding and wide application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field listed under the basic qualifications
Conduct multidisciplinary research when needed and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers
Follows and ensures software standards are met.
Supports the Integrated Product Team (IPT) lead
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of software engineering experience OR a master’s degree in (STEM) with 10 years of software engineering experience OR a PhD Degree in (STEM) with 8 years of software engineering experience
- Experience with sensor integration – ground and flight support.
- Experience with Resource Management
- Experience developing / integrating / testing with model and simulation tools.
- Experience developing software in a real-time, multi-threaded architecture
- Experience with developing and debugging on embedded operating systems
- Experience with developing and integrating Open Mission System (OMS) ICD and Service Contract development
- Working knowledge developing in C/C++
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special program Access
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with containerization and container orchestration
- Knowledge of AFSIM, NGTS, and DIS model and simulation tools
- Knowledge of AMS GRA
- Experience in leading a small agile product team
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are required
- Systems Engineering and Cameo Modeling
- Comms Experience
- Experience collecting and analyzing CPU throughput utilization, data bus bandwidth utilization, and CPU memory utilization statistics
- Experience developing on a program that delivers periodic releases in a process-driven environment for a government customer
- Python scripting knowledge
- Git source control knowledge
- Atlassian Suite (Jira, BitBucket, etc) knowledge
Salary Range: $142,500 - $213,700
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
