Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability, System Safety and Supportability.
What You Will Do:
As a Sr. Ordnance Assessment (OA) Engineer, you will support the execution of testing and analysis efforts for a surveillance/OA program. The OA Program is a combined surveillance and shelf-life assessment program that assists our customers in inventory management decisions and provides a continuing assessment of the effects of operational environments on the product’s safety, quality, performance, reliability, and service life status.
Program activities include:
- Performing missile-level accelerated aging (environmental exposure)
- Executing missile and lower-level teardown inspections
- Writing energetic item accelerated aging and test plans
- Coordinating accelerated aging and testing of energetic and mechanical components at the manufacturer’s facilities or other designated test facilities
- Writing assessment reports and presenting results at customer reviews.
The OA program provides a continuing assessment of the effects of operational environments on the product’s safety, quality, performance, reliability and service life status.

- Commercial and government test facilities

- Energetics and Propulsion
- Materials and Process Engineering (M&PE)

- Electrical

Additional responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the test and analysis execution and ensure that all deliverables are delivered on schedule.
- Supporting execution to the program integrated master schedule
- Supporting the execution of OA tasking
- Providing support of surveillance activities in place at several commercial and government test facilities
- Providing support of test & evaluation at the test facilities
- Supporting contractual deliverables
- Presenting program status at program and technical reviews.
- Ability to be cleared for and maintain SAP (Special Access Program) status
Approximately 5 travel required for offsite testing of program hardware and meetings with customers and test facilities

Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically Requires a Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and minimum 5 years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
- Experience with weapons inspections, hardware testing or hardware integration
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with weapons loading in accordance with Military specifications and standards
- Experience with root cause or failure analysis
- Experience with Reliability and failure modes
- Experience with statistical analysis techniques
- Experience with project management including developing and executing to project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements, and performance standards.
- Understanding of environmental effects on hardware and application of technical theories and concepts in relation to the operation of aging
- Ability to take an analytical approach and utilize technical knowledge to solve challenges

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
