Sr. Acoustics Systems Production Development Engineer
Cannonsburg, PA
Contract Position
$69.24-$87.19/Hour
Contribute to a company at the forefront of mission-critical systems and technologies in defense and security. This leader in global defense integrates advanced technology to deliver information and insights on the battlefield, offering roles that support security and technological superiority across multiple domains.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop acoustic systems for submarine programs (e.g., VA Class, Columbia Class, SSN(X)), driving technical and production success.
- Lead cross-functional teams in the development and production of sonar transducer/array systems across all phases, including research, design, manufacturing, testing, and documentation.
- Conduct R&D experiments to explore materials and improve their properties for underwater acoustics.
- Lead the preparation of proposals for transducer/array system development.
- Oversee the manufacturing and quality control processes to ensure systems meet required specifications.
- Perform testing and analysis on acoustic materials, including stress testing and data interpretation.
- Solve complex problems related to materials performance, array housings, and producibility.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to develop materials for specific applications.
- Manage projects, including timelines, resources, and budgets, ensuring successful delivery.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, or Mathematics field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 6+ years of experience.
- Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
- Experience in Acoustics or Sonar systems.
- Expertise in modeling electroacoustic transducers/arrays, integrating them with relevant electronics, and conducting experiments in labs and at sea.
- Extensive experience creating technical content for new products and business development initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of technology trends and R&D experience in underwater acoustics.
- Proven leadership in managing design teams for complex projects.
- Project management experience, including handling technical and programmatic communications with senior leadership and stakeholders.
- Experience in acoustic/vibration analysis for submarines and other undersea vehicles.
