This position will support Energetics and Propellant Development. applies expertise to directly contribute to the development of new concepts and techniques in the area of energetic materials. This position utilizes material concepts and property modification in the area of energy materials. In addition, an understanding of propulsion concepts is needed. Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of significant projects, coordinating the efforts of technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects. Analyzes, evaluates, plans and validates methods of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts investigations and tests methods of considerable complexity.
- Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
- Reviews project’s progress and evaluates results.
- Recommends corrections in technical applications and analysis. Specifies materials, equipment and supplies required for completion and implementation of technical projects.
- Track technical, cost, and schedule components on assigned programs. Originates whitepapers and proposals to include technical, cost, and schedule components for new programs/opportunities.
- Evaluates vendor capabilities to provide required products or services. May provide technical consultation to technical staff or other organizations.
- Prepares and presents presentations and reports for distribution to personnel outside the company to communicate technical progress and capabilities.
- Ability to obtain a US Security Clearance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior material process engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior material process engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior material process engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Physics.
- 4 years energetics knowledge.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 2 years experience in propulsion a desired.
- Background in energetic materials, propellants a plus.
- Understanding of viscoelastic theory.
- Understanding of safety testing and procedures.
