About us:
We are looking for an intern to join Airbus Defence & Space in Stevenage, joining our rapidly expanding family of highly motivated and skilled software engineers.
You will become part of a multidisciplinary and highly skilled team which is constantly striving to deliver high quality solutions for exciting and innovative projects. You will also be part of our much wider, transnational, on-board software engineering community spread across Europe, providing you with the prospects and opportunities, to be part of an even wider variety of space related activities and missions.
You will be based in Stevenage in the UK, where a quarter of all the satellites orbiting earth were manufactured, and which has always been at the forefront of innovation and technology. We have a proud record of developing engineers by actively affording them the support and opportunities to develop themselves, and forge a career that is truly unique – whether that be within the purely technical domain, as a technical lead or SW architects, there are plenty of avenues to evolve and hone your unique skill set.
What you will be doing:
During this placement the activities you may undertake include:
Discover space software engineering;
Identify the main differences between theory and practice;
Shadow the software development team;
Contribute on improvements ideas within a transnational organisation.

Guidance and supervision will always be available, but you will be given a large degree of freedom and responsibility to develop each project in your own way!
Requirements:
Our placements are open to Undergraduates only. Therefore it is mandatory for candidates to be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate the following:
Studying towards a degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science;
Experience in software engineering, some coding (i.e.: C);
Knowledge and experience with Linux operating systems;
Curious, good teamwork skills, and interested in Space.
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Eligibility to gain UK SC Security Clearance OR You will be subject to a BPSS check (including a criminal record check).
