Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking to hire a Subcontract Management Team (SMT) Engineer / Principal Engineer to its team of diverse and qualified individuals. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.
What you will get to do:
Subcontract Management Team (SMT) Engineer / Principal Engineer reports to the SMT Lead. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining SMT Battle Rhythm through cross-functional integration
- Supplier facing integration between NG team & Major Subsystems Subcontractor
- Integration between NG Global Supply Chain and NG Engineering teams for Engineering Change Proposals
- Coordinating between Systems Engineering, PM&P Engineering, Software Engineering, Design Engineering, Mission Assurance / Quality, and program management.
Lead on Change Requests throughout SMT Life Cycle:
- Coordination between SMT RE and internal NG Stakeholders for defining requirements of change
- Identifying correct subcontractor baseline documentation to flow change requests to
- Creation of TRB/CCB package for baseline control and RFP approval
- Coordinating with Subcontracts on RFP generation
- Coordinating with subcontractor and NG Global Supply Chain on Proposal Submission to NG
- CCB Package Approval Negotiation Ceiling Budget
- Coordinating with SMT RE for Tech Eval post Proposal receipt
- Coordinating with PCAR team and GSC for initial offer generation
- Coordinating with GSC and subcontractor for negotiation timeline
- Supporting contract mod negotiations with Subcontractor

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. May involve up to 25 travel.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Subcontract Management Team (SMT) Engineer - bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 2 years of experience or Masters degree with 0 years of experience
- Principal Subcontract Management Team (SMT) - Project: Bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 5 years of experience; or Masters degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience
Required for Both Levels:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance
- Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
- Ability to understand engineering challenges, coordinate with NG Engineering team in identifying paths for resolution, and driving engineering execution
- Ability to take complex technical challenges and decomposing the information into chart packages to brief to program management & leadership team
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with subcontractors on DoD programs
- Familiarity with Microsoft suite of tools (PowerPoint, excel, word, etc.)
- Experience with engineering, manufacturing, and development life cycle
- Experience with cost plus DoD contracts
- CAM or Earn Value Management System (EVMS) experience
- Experience with CAMEO/Model Based Systems Engineering, DOORs, or CPLM systems
Salary Range: $68,500 - $102,700
Salary Range 2: $84,200 - $126,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
