The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia is shaping the future of multiple air, land and sea platforms which is delivering critical capability for the Australian Defence Force. Boeing Defence Australia is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support the delivery and sustainment of the Wakulda Program.
As a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer, you will apply your extensive Software Engineering knowledge and leadership ability to support a multidisciplinary engineering team in the delivery of a complex ICT-based Air Battle Management System.
Youll be supporting an environment that has security considerations and is both Windows and Linux based, so virtualisation and networking knowledge is a big bonus.
The ability to communicate and collaborate with a diverse team, in a conscientious and inclusive way and a proactive approach to problem solving is valued by our team.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert level design and development of back end and front-end software solutions that enable the Air Battle Management mission and its supporting services
- Develops and maintains the ICT software design documentation so that the software requirements, architecture, interface design, change documentation and end-user documentation is captured and aligns with the software solution
- Ensures that software meets quality and security standards by performing code reviews, developing unit tests and following verification processes prior to production deployment
- Plans and manages software delivery schedules and identifies any dependencies or risks relevant to its delivery.
- Technical supervision of less experienced engineers and technicians, including teaching, guiding and coaching.
Experience/Qualifications
- 6 + years of professional experience in software development (Python, Java and Rust experienced is highly desired)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience across the software development lifecycle from initial design through to delivery
- Familiarity with systems engineering practices and principles
- Experience with database systems (eg., PostgreSQL, MySQL is highly desired)
- Knowledge of version control systems (eg.,Git, Jenkins)
- Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum)
- Experience with Visio, Cameo and/or similar software design tools
Working in the role you will have the opportunity to
- Develop software components that contribute to state-of-the-art air battle management mission systems.
- Architect, design and maintain the software product baseline for new or modified software components.
- Lead major software engineering changes from conception through to delivery.
- Broaden knowledge into systems engineering and product security engineering domains.
