SUMMARY:
The Senior Engineer should be responsible to the Director, Engineering for all engineering services and technical assistance.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with company departments to evaluate the required engineering assistance.
- Evaluate discrepancies and develop repair schemes (with drawings or sketches) and Engineering Authorization (EA) for the required repairs.
- POC for engineering services and technical assistance for HMV (fleet specific).
- Familiar with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) technical data (such as Engineering drawings, Structural Repair Manual, Illustrated Parts Catalog, Airplane Maintenance Manual, etc).
- Communicate with OEMs and customers for technical advice and approval related to the repair work.
- Follow up with Production Department for the implementation of the proposed repair scheme/EA’s. Make changes or revisions to the EA’s or repair schemes to facilitate the repair work.
- Assist Production Department in troubleshooting of airplane systems that are not covered in the manuals.
- Responsible to determine alternate materials and processes ensuring that the design requirements, weight optimization and safety and reliability standards are met.
- Responsible for stream lining and optimizing designs to improve production efficiencies.
- Train other engineers assigned to by the Director, Engineering.
- Provide daily Engineering status for work progress.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge or the ability to acquire skills in the following:
The ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, by presenting ideas and giving instructions/guidance to subordinates, co-workers, supervisors and outside agencies in a manner that instructions are carried out and requested information is obtained; ability to motivate and lead a staff or team of subordinates to obtain goals, higher productivity and quality work; the ability to delegate and prioritized work effectively, be creative and persuasive. Computer literate. Should be familiar with engineering drawing systems, aircraft manuals and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) documents.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
SUPERVISION: The incumbent normally performs the duty assignment at his or her discretion and is limited only by policies set by administrative or legislative authority. Total end results determine the effectiveness of job performance.
INTERPERSONAL RELATIONS: A strong level of interpersonal skill is required to maintain an effective relationship among employees, various departments, management, and customer representatives.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: Essential responsibilities are performed in a climate controlled office but not limited to the office. Must be able to cope with stress and mental exhaustion due to the pressures of accomplishing set goals, meeting short deadlines, maintaining numerous projects simultaneously, employee confrontations and long work hours.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: B.S. Degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in MRO/Liaison engineering activities.
