About us:
A complex area of maintenance and retrofit engineering in aerospace, Systems Engineering has the responsibility to create the technical information for the production of the instruction dossiers (‘Service Bulletins’) to implement improvement and upgrade modification. In the UK a significant proportion of the focus is on, but not limited to, Landing Gear Systems and Wing Structure for A320 family, A330 family, A350XWB. There is also opportunity to experience other areas such as fuselage and the wet/dry systems, gaining you visibility of the full aircraft and all the challenges it is faced with. As the product cycles are very long the tools used and ways of working followed are always changing and evolving.
Systems Engineering is an exciting domain of Customer Services to work for in a number of ways:
- We are a key interface and the closest area to the Design Office in Customer Services, whilst having the airline customers as our main focus;
- We are a small agile team, yet able to rely on a large network and bigger extended organisation. Our teams at Retrofit Solutions Engineering level are distributed across sites in the UK, France, Germany, Spain, India, USA, and transnational collaboration is part of the daily work;
- Our work is very varied with many interactions, our Service Bulletins cover standard (apply to all aircraft in a family) and upgrade (dedicated to a number of aircraft at the request of the customer) scenarios;
- The UK areas of responsibility include most of Landing Gear, Wing, and Fuel topics, and others for all Airbus Commercial aircraft.

You will also have the opportunity to be part of an early careers community to support your professional development.
As an Airbus Intern in this team, you may find yourself working on:
The identification of installation drawings design solutions;
Feasibility analysis;
Configuration management;
Continuous improvement initiatives like processes;
Knowledge capture;
Compliance with Airworthiness requirements;
Ground Support Equipment;
Future ways of working (like new integrated tools).
The team will provide you with a challenging, exciting, and rewarding working experience with learning opportunities that will bring both aircraft and non-aircraft (like methods and processes) knowledge. You will gain experience and relative training on a variety of different toolsets, from bespoke tools developed for Airbus to engineering and management tools used by the whole industry.
