OnsiteAn exciting opportunity exists for a temporary Senior Principal RF/Microwave Engineer to join our Advanced Microelectronics Solutions Department (AMSD) at Raytheon in Andover, MA. AMSD develops, designs, and manufactures compound semiconductor devices, microwave/millimeter-wave integrated circuits, and modules for defense applications. Raytheon’s state-of-the-art monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products support air and missile defense systems and radars. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert in gallium nitride (GaN) MMIC design tasked with training developing designers in MMIC design techniques and best practices. The candidate will also act as a product engineer to trouble-shoot issues with existing MMICs in the next higher assembly.

What You Will Do
- Train early career designers in microwave passive and active circuit design techniques
- Help early career designers gain experience in understanding and making the best use of GaN technology for RF front ends
- Serve as a mentor in meaningful apprenticeships with early career designers through the development of customer-specified power amplifier , driver amplifier, low noise amplifier, and switch MMIC designs
- Provide engineering support for integration and trouble-shooting of MMICs in the next higher assembly
- Collaborate with the GaN process team on process development projects
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years
- Experience in GaN technology and MMIC design, including design of power, driver, and low-noise amplifiers, switches and TR MMICs
- Experience with circuit simulation tool ADS and in EM tools such as HFSS and Momentum
- Experience with measurements and equipment used for testing of MMIC designs (e.g. s-parameters, power performance, noise figure, linearity)
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering curriculum
- Broad background in theory and techniques of microwave/mm-wave circuits, design, and test
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Customer focus and collaboration skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Previous experience with a defense contractor and/or government agency.
