Summary
Under the direction of the leadership team in the Quality Department, monitor quality, technical and process activities in the Ingot Melt Shop and ancillary processes; review operating and test data; dispose processing non-conformances; evaluate ingot chemistry; ensure compliance with customer purchase orders requirements; prescribe continuous improvement programs.
Essential Functions
- Review and comment on customer and industry specifications based on plant capabilities.
- Review heat records for accuracy/compliance, including melt chart interpretation.
- Review chemistry results and recommend formulation improvements/adjustments
- Conduct internal audits as assigned, including hazard review assessments
- Provide technical assistance for the development or modification of formulation standards, melt profiles, standard process outlines, grade standards, variances, etc.
- Create/revise standard operating procedures, raw material specifications, as necessary.
Review statistical data and make recommendations for improvements.
- Prepare statistical reports for customer submittals
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies
Quality assurance/engineering principles, metallurgical or material science engineering, SPC, general plant safety, working knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
Education and Experience
Enrolled in a four-year degree program in either of the following engineering areas: Metallurgical/Materials Science Engineering or Quality.
Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident.
