Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Principal Software Engineer to join our C2BMC team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Huntsville, AL.
Position Overview:
The selected Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for software development for the C2BMC Battle Management/Sensor Resource Manager (BM/SRM) Product Team, performing analysis and technical support of systems software products, including resolution, design, development, testing, operational integration, and user support.
Essential Functions:
- Support advanced portions of the lifecycle of software development to include requirements definition, integration, and deployment.
- Prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results with limited oversight and direction.
- Apply "systems thinking" to ensure developed products are scalable, maintainable, and meet end-user needs.
- Communicate openly and effectively with teammates and customer representatives.
- Limited travel may be required to support program needs.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Masters Degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
- Hands-on experience developing Java applications in a UNIX/Linux platform environment
- Experience developing software in a structured, process-based integrated team environment.
- Experience with git/gitlab, eclipse, Maven/Gradle, SonarQube, automated unit testing frameworks
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as system requirements, Use Cases and SysML diagrams
- Ability and willingness to travel 10 to support business needs.
- Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Ballistic Missile Defense concepts and Command and Control systems
- Command and control system application development
- Radar functionality and radar control
- Experience with Software Integration testing
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance, identify root cause and recommend a solution.
- A current active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Salary Range: $102,400 - $153,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
